Next mods? Almost FBO

Let start off by saying I know there are similar threads out there, and I hate repeated threads just as much as the next guy. However, I cannot get a straight answer.

I have a 2009 coupe with a drop-in filter, RPI scoops, AR catless DPs, and Cobb running stage 2 ACN 91 octane Linear throttle.
Will I notice a power difference if I get an intercooler and run the same crappy California gas, on the stage2+FMIC map??

Also, if i go from the drop-in filter to a DCI will I notice anymore power, especially In the Southern California summer. (Heatsoak!)

I am sort of bored of my car to be honest, and I was looking at getting a new 5.0 mustang. I decided to keep my car. I just want to make it more fun!
Any recommendations? I don't really want meth as I feel it is kind of a unsafe and A mix of E85 is a possibility but not all the time. Thanks!

In general the car is very fun and I am definitely blessed to have it. I just mean mod wise and I am bored, because I'm at the point where I'll have to start using E85 or meth.

Yes I am thinking an intercooler on the E30 map should be a nice bump in power.

Probably time for an LSD or coilovers!

I just don't want to spend too much in mods as I will not keep the car forever and I am getting a bike soon. Thanks for the ideas.

Of course you will, an intercooler is way more important than downpipes will ever be on this car without methanol injection, especially with a load targeting tune such as COBB. You need to do quite a bit of suspension work and LSD as well in order to not get "bored." Also, get off the OTS maps and learn how to use ATR/get a Protune.

If you know you arn't keeping the car save your time and don't do any more.

True. I am going to have the car at least another 6 months to a year. So an intercooler is probably my next mod. Learning how to use AFR will also be beneficial. Thanks!

I hope this is a joke. I can't imagine driving a FBO tuned n54 at 16. I would have killed myself. It's a miracle I survived riding sportbikes through my early 20s.

I'm 35 with a FBO car plus E40 protune and I feel like I could really use some performance driving school time to really enjoy this car safely. Luckily up until recently I've been a broke student through various advanced degrees and so haven't really had the opportunity to hurt myself in fast cars.

OP, FMIC should be next. Even if you're not going to keep the car long, you can always part out and get a good portion of your money back when you move on...just don't sell the stock parts!!!

When I was 16 I had an 85 f250 super duty diesel. There's no reason you should have this vehicle.

Wasn't really making a fuss as much as me remembering what I was like at 16and a car with any more power than the '89 chevy corsica I had would've done me in. I'm not judging the OP at all, for all I know he's the Stig. But it never hurts to put out the public svc announcement. I've seen too many pics on here of bloody wrecks from our younger members who don't appreciate that a 400 whp car with DTC off is nothing short of a weapon. And that's not to say that there's not bloody wrecks with 40 year olds in them as well. For me personally as a dad I'd be scared to death with a teenager tooling around in a car like this. But that's just me and no reflection on the OP.

Its not a matter of the car being an exotic or expensive. The reason why people are even mentioning anything about his age because at age 16, you are young and most are stupid. If you don't to hurt anyone's feelings then let's say "inexperienced".

Now combine inexperience with a car as fast as this, and you have the potential for even graver dangers than you would with a beater civic.

Quite possibly the most ignorant comment on this forum, and that's saying a lot.

If you are worried about those hot summers than definitely look into aftermarket FMICs. I just picked up a VRSF 7" intercooler and am having it installed this week. The summers up here can hit in the mid to high 90s and you can feel the power loss tremendously.

A tuned 335i as your first car sets the bar kind of high. Here's to hoping you can be successful enough to afford the cars that are upgrades to a 335i in the future. 335i to M3 to GTR to ... have fun in the office!

I appreciate everyone's concern for my safety. I'm a pretty responsible kid, but like anyone my age with a lot of power, I do drive stupidly at times.
I definitely understand the danger of a high speed vehicle and what it can do to myself and innocent people. And yes one day I do plan on getting a GT-R, I'm going to medical school so hopefully that does the job financially.
And I'm looking at the AMS intercooler. I talked to some people and apparently the VRSF lacks in some areas. And the AMS can be purchased for like 650 now, it used to be much more. That, and the E30 OTS map, and I should be good!
