USB cable is not needed, you can check them manually. Just have pen/paper handy because they sweep pretty quickly...

Subscribed, I'm considering buying downpipes. Would like to know how all of this is solved, and if anything else besides a tune/dpfix was needed.

"dpfix" is not needed! The JB4 G5 board has the dpfix built into it already.. Don't spend the additional 80 bucks..

If your going to get DP's then, some sort of tune is a must!!

usually you just get a check engine light or service soon and you set your jb4 to autoclear codes and that'll take care of it. Just do it with the steering wheel controls.

If you use the appropriate cobb dp map, you will not get any down pipe errors. But yes, cobb can clear codes as well, though not auto clear - I don't think.

You need to load the map appropriate to the mods you have and the octane you will be using. The maps are all free. their site lists the maps and mods/fuel required to run each map.

Ok, thanks. Is this true for passing emissions through the OBD port as well? Car is registered to Illinois.

Waiting to see if I can get some install quotes before I order, any guidance on how much a downpipe install should cost?

That's exactly right, the dpfix that's included in the JB4 G5 is cough, cough meant to get pass emission testing.. There was some talk for awhile that BMS was going to stop selling the dpfix but if you purchased the G5 board then, no worries..

I have no idea what it would cost you....maybe 300ish..

I installed my own, DIY said to set aside 3-4 hours, lol took me about 7 but i had to get away from time to time due to frustration issues...

I run the BMS DP's and cant complain one bit.... Very satisfied!

Since no one really answered your question, Did the installer move the rack when installing your DPs. Cable may be loose from moving the rack forward when installing.

DP fix is needed for JB4. The DPfix make the cat system ready for inspection. If you use the JB4 autoclear for the cat, your cat system is not ready and you would not pass emissions.

The JB4G5 would not be able to pass OBD emissions. The jb4 just autoclears the cat codes before it goes on. It will keep resetting the Cat system and make it not ready so you would not pass emission through OBD. You would need DP fix no matter what.

Ok, awesome. I would be having a shop do the work, I don't have the skill or tools. Shops in my area are very very good (which is great for the quality of work) but I wanted to make sure I had some idea before I go asking for quotes.

I haven't ordered anything yet, since the downpipes are on backorder and I am waiting for some more cash so I can get the jb4 at the same time. Have you passed emissions with the G5 board? The only other thing that worries me with the Jb4 is pulling wires out in the ECU, did you DIY the jb4 install?

argh, more conflicting answers! I know the previous G4 board did not have a dpfix, but BMS is advertising that G5 does. I dont want to spend the extra $100 if I don't have to, but the car needs to be able to pass IL emissions. I am aware that autoclear is very different than the emissions readiness codes, and with autoclear only you will not pass. One is to delete the CEL, the other is to set emissions readiness.

Like i said the jb4G5 alone would not let you pass emissions through OBD. you can try and waste your money. I had jb4 and all my friends that have jb4 requires dpfix to pass emissions here in nyc.

all the jb4 does is reset the catalytic system so CEL does not show. Your system will not be ready for inspection. There are plenty threads about this.
