335i remap graphs
superchips......
http://www.superchips.co.uk/curves/BMW35T306ps.pdf evolve......scroll down to post 122. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=620224&page=6 the superchips map gains about 30 bhp and 60 nm or 44lbft right up to 5500 ish and then at high revs it takes off and gives you another 50 bhp right to the redline...nice. the evolve map gains as much as 70-80 lbft and the same bhp in the midrange but then tails a little to 60 bhp up the top end. Of course the majority of folk would go evolve without even thinking twice, but i have experience of huge extra lumps of torque coming in hard in the low and midrange and all it does is cause traction issues and spoil the o.e power delivery. I dont particularly want any more low end grunt because at the minute the car can lay 1st and 2nd without spinning, that wont be the case with another 80lbft and 70 bhp will it !?!??!....but it might just lay the power still with another 30 lbft and 30 bhp. Where i want the extra power is higher up the revs, so its only accessed when your wanting it....and so the superchips map seems more to my liking, and also it must be running much less boost so should be kinder on the turbo's too. Thoughts and experiences anyone ? D Last edited by Davidlindsey; 06-21-2013 at 04:40 PM.. |

1st and 2nd pretty much useless with a remap! Some people get wheel spin in 3rd gear in the dry and that's with an auto gearbox!

Even though the JB4 costs more, IMO its well worth if as it some very useful features. Also you can remove and sell it when you get rid of the car so you will get some money back. |

If your have on going plans to additional engine mods go for a JB4/Procede/Cobb tunes. They give you so much more flexibility than a old fashioned remap. Infact thinking about if forget a standard remap go and just go for a JB4/Procede tune.
With either you get: Cold temp protection (stock map till oil temp is up) Switchable maps on the fly, and auto tunning map to maximise power Boost limits in 1/2 gear (Procede addtionally allows you to set boost target for any gear) Gauge hacking, allows things like boost/water temp to be displayed. USB port for live data logging Auto disable of TC on start up Why would you not want to have these features? Prevously with a UK based reseller the JB4 was about the same price as a remap, so it was a nature choice for many. I previously had the JB4 on the car now the Procede. Both are fab, and because I drive like a 90 year old 90% of the time I have the max PSI target set at 10, but at a touch of a button I can change the map, and have a PSI target upped to 16....it's like having a 'M mode button' |

I have JB4 and got it for £400 including USB and SLD. It's a no-brainer.
It does give you the traction issues in 1st and 2nd though as it provides much more grunt low down. But you can dial that out with boost limits as has already been explained. As well as the points made above, the back up from Terry is superb and the software is always being developed. Plus, you can take it off and sell it on if you move the car on at a later date. You fit it yourself. It's an hour for anyone who can wire a plug. WM |

Tuner arguements aside.
A tune with much higher hp in the top of the rev range is not so good on an N54. The turbos are out of their efficiency range. I'd be interested to know how much boost they run. I believe evolve is 18psi in the mid range (i.e aggressive with no other mods)..
