Almost 9 weeks.......NO CAR!!!

So i dropped of my 335 coupe off at HARMS on July 27 and the car has yet to arrive. From what i know it arrived in New Jersey on or about 8/24.

My dealer is telling me the car is still at the VPC. Could something have happened to my car? How would i find out if it did?

I was expecting the car in the first week of September. Not too many nice days weather wise left in Upstate NY this year. I want my car!!!

I dropped mine off July 26 in Frankfurt and it was delivered to me in Cal. on Sep. 4. Should be a shorter delvery time to the East Coast, so I'd definately press the dealer to find out why they don't have it yet. I don't know disclosure laws on repairing damaged vehicles prior to delivery, but I'd inquire about that if I were you. Make sure the dealer does a full detail too since it was transported w/o plastic wrap.

Sorry man, that blows! If it makes you feel any better, I still don't have my car back yet either. (Everyone else that was on the boat has already gotten their car)

Here is what i found out

Car released to VPC on 8/29
Car appartently has damage. (not my own doing. must have happened during transport.)
Scheduled for repair 9/21
Called today 9/24 and VPC didnt answer.
Got a call back. Car was repaired today and should be released to trucking company tomorrow.
I assume it won't arrive in Chicago until End of week or early next week.

One month at VPC is just ridiculous. I dont care how many cars they have to fix. Plus i didnt damage the car. I am about to make my 5th lease payment next week and i've only seen the car a total of 18 days. (Lease started 30 days prior to pickup ) Not acceptable to me.

Any sugguestions?

Wow the 5th payment...
BMW should do something about this situation, esp. if you ask them to.
Did u use BMWFS, if so it should be easy to get a mo. payment credit.

Yes i used BMWFS. I called customer relations today and they said there is nothing they can do as this point until they investigate into what happened with the car and why it is taking so long.

Anyone else have it take this long and had BMW make a lease payment for you?

You could get your payment date moved until the end of the month.

A friend of mine had a different problem in which delivery of his 550 was delayed by a couple months (also an ED lease through BMW). He called BMWNA to complain about having to make 2 payments w/o having his car and was credited. Give it a try...

Let's see . . . first payment 2 weeks before delivery in Europe. Second payment made by BMW, a month after that (assuming a 3-year or more lease), call it 2 weeks after delivery. If you are making YOUR fifth payment, that would mean your lease is starting its sixth month, so you must have had the car in Europe for at least ten weeks. Is that right? How could it be just eighteen days?

Made my first payment actually 30 days prior to pickup. I had a huge problem with this but dealer would not work with me.

Anyway, BMW makes the second payment while im in Europe yes but i dont look at it like that. Money factor is bumped up to compensate for that. I'm really making that payment.

Only had the car in Europe total of 18 days. Dropped off July 27. Come back make 3rd payment.

September comes along and expecting car. Make 4th payment but no car.

October next week and still don't have my car. 5th payment due next week.

You see what's going on here?

I do. Thanks for clarifying. It's troublesome, and I think that they owe you (a) a detailed accounting of the damage and repairs, and (b) compensation for the extra time they've taken with delivering your car. I'm just not sure who, in this case, "they" is -- BMW or Harms or the carrier.

well i called BMWFS to see if they would give me a payment credit and they transferred me to another department which told me i should talk to customer relations because they can't do anything because it doesn't meet within their guidelines .

I asked what the guidelines to do something are and she didn't really have an answer for me. She said she didnt know the situation and to talk with the rep at customer relations that i had spoken with before.

If she doesnt know the situation then how does she know that it doesnt meet their guidelines????

My problem here is that i dont feel as though i am getting what i paid for. This is a 36 month lease and it started June 12. I drove the car in Europe for about 15 days. 5 payments and 4 months later still no car.

Only good news is that it should be at the dealer next week.

I guess the silver lining is that you'll be able to drive it more over the remaining lease term without exceeding the mileage limit. I'm thinking you could have the same bad luck if someone ran into it and damaged it while it was in your possession -- you'd still have the lease payments, and nothing to drive (unless the perp's insurance--or your own--gave you a rental car, of course)

Apparently got damaged during transport. I believe they told me they had to touch up some paint. Not sure exactly though.

Was released by customer 8/29 and finally fixed 9/24. Almost a month to touch up paint? Doesnt sound right.

I would call BMWFS again, and I would ask for a supervisor. Just don't drop any "F-Bombs" and I bet you get some better answers.
