E92 headlight reflector blackout?
Hey guys,
Got my E92 headlights here with a partial black out. Looking to get rid of the chrome reflector at the edge of the headlight in favor of blacking it out. What do I paint the reflector with specifically? I understand that I have to heat the headlights to pry them open. I've searched a few threads but no specifics were given as to which paint/finish turns out best for blacking the reflector out. Thanks for the help guys.

Interested to know as well. I know OSS offer a full black out which includes that lens, so do they just night shade it?

Called BavarianX, they didn't want to tell me which specific paint they use. All they said was it was an "automotive-based paint". And that can be anyyyything. I think I'm going to try a semi-gloss for the reflector part after I sand it.

wouldn't you just paint the chrome reflector backing with a gloss black? you'd want it as reflective as possible so the light diffuses

Ohh, hmm. I thought I'd make it match the housing satin-black paint, but now that you mention the light reflecting.. hmm....

Do you know if that's been done before?

That's how these companies use it to make it safe otherwise all of these companies would have lawsuits for painting over a blinker and making it illegal by farther than tinting it.
