Since you are in the UK I can assum your car comes with the eurointake box. If it does than this filter will fit with no issues.. One way to find out is to open your intake and see if you have cone filter in there, if you do than you are g2g.

Does it make much difference to the sound? What about fuel consumption ? Does it affect it ?

I've not noticed any change, either good or bad. The big advantage in having a K&N is that one filter lasts the life of the car (with a proper cleaning routine of course).

Yeah not much increase in sound. (Although I'm getting a custom exhaust soon, and will work well with that)

Engine feels like it respond slightly better, but that could be the placebo effect. And as said lasts 100,000 miles with cleaning. I think the cost was worth it.

wow! it's a fair price nowadays. i paid for it around 55pounds before 2,5 years.
personally, i haven't noticed any change. it just makes me feel good by the fact that can filter the incoming air more efficient. as all the other mates mention, you have to clean it and oil it in a regular basis.

nice! happy miles now and remember to keep it clean.
not forget to mention that it's a bit unfair how easily the 325i intake box opens in comparison with the 320i air filter box...

I personally didn't see or notice any differences. the fact is that you will install a more efficient (doing the job more properly) air filter in your engine
