2013 328i harder pull then my 335?!

My 2007 335 was in the shop due to a bent wheel, so they gave me a 2013 328i as a rental car. For some reason when I floored it the pull on the 328 felt stronger then my 335 weird huh? Anyone know what can be the problem?

Well isn't the 328i extremely underrated out of the factory? I thought it was putting out around 270 at the crank. Still, 335i *should* be faster.

328i has a 4 cylinder turbo mated with 8 speed. That surge of power is attributed to the fact it has an 8 speed, lower gear ratios, giving you that feeling it's faster.

Your 335i actually is faster than the 328i no matter what. Even by BMW specs, n54 335i does 0-60 in 5.0, 4cyl turbo 328i does 0-60 in 5.9. I had that feeling when I had the loaner at first, but then I realized it was not as good in the top end. Then when I got my 335i back from service, I can definitely tell the 335i was more planted and had better power output.

Had completely the opposite experience. The 2013 328 (though it was xdrive) felt slow and handled awkwardly.

It's just the feeling of a different car you think it's faster. Probably because you're used to the way your car feels. Also the F30 has a 8 gears so more gear changes=effect of going faster according to Fast and Furious.

Xdrive makes it feel slower and handels weird too I guess (not as precise as RWD + understeer). When I drove my friends 330i it felt quicker than my 330xi, but is wasn't. We had a little drag in the middle of nowhere in Mexico. My car had a quicker 0-60 but obviously RWD starts to gain quickly in the long run (70mph).

Anyways AWD feels slower because during a roll, all 4 wheels are giving effort to spin so you can't really feel it (not as many G's I guess) as opposed to RWD you can feel the rear wheels lock down and pull since all power is at the rear. That's just what I assume why RWD feels faster.

Yup, there's no doubt about it. AWD has more powertrain loss (equaling to less whp) than a 2 wheel drive car.

I couldn't get past the new gearing ratios. The 328 loaner I had was nearly 3k on the tach as I approached 40 in 3rd gear. 4th gear was over 4k at 60

My car is at 4k at 60 in 3rd gear..

Just felt weird. I guess I like the taller gears in my '07

Something is wrong with your 335i. I had a '13 328 not long ago - completely opposite feeling.

I personally did not get it done- perhaps those that have had a walnut blast can chime in?
