Coilovers and fitting

Hi Guys/Gals,

Im on the brink of buying some Weitec Hicon GT coilovers and I was wondering if there was or anybody knew of somewhere that sells them for anything less than £790-£830?

Also will I need new top mounts or is it a simple case of using the original ones?

Mike

hey mate,

i would recommend a set of BC BR Series coilovers, come with 30 way adjustable shocks and also top mounts all included! you wouldnt need to buy anything else!

fitting shouldnt really be any more than £150/200...

i have heard of this issue but i think it mainly seems like either the drop links or either the shocks, should one have this problem then BC replace it under their warranty as a faulty part!

not sure of anyone on here who has had the problem though?

I'm new to the BMW forums, but come with HEAVY amounts of suspension experience in the Nissan Maxima world, and have installed BC coilovers on at least 15-20 Maximas.

I'd imagine that with the exception of the different spring & dampening rates, and of course the physical brackets & mounting, the build quality of the BC coils for the Maxima vs 3 series is largely the same.

That being said, I rate the quality of the coilovers somewhere in the 5-6 range, out of 10. There are definitely much better out there, but for the price, they're not a bad choice. Their points of weakness are the pillowball mounts. They are often loose from the factory, and can sometimes be noisy even when tight. Additionally, the rubber isolators they use between the spring and the perch can often lead to an awful groaning noise. I have to grease these just to keep them quiet.

Take my opinion for what it's worth, if anything at all. Just wanted to throw my experiences with these coilovers out there. Best of luck to everyone.
This fills me with serious doubt.
