how to reset the light after an oil change and other services?

hi, guys i want to change my oil but i dont know how to reset the car to say service oil in 7000 miles after a fresh oil change or whatever the proper mileage interval is. Is there a certain tool that i need to purchase that i can use to set the intervals in between the oil changes or brake pads or any other general service that needs to be done. how do i do this?
thanks guys

Worked for me after getting the brakes changed. Oil should be the same way. Dealer will charge you $125 for it.

So is replacing the brake sensors a must even if they haven't been triggered?

Nope, just unplug one of the sensors, perform the reset(it won't work) than plug sensor back in, do reset again and it should work.

Are the wear sensors staged? E.g. I know on newer model BMW'S they have a 2 stage wear sensor. If i-drive shows I have 4k miles on pads but no wear sensor light is on, must I replace the sensors? Thanks.

I did a brake change and didn't unplug any sensors and have the brake light on now after doing the service reset when I didn't before. Can I just clear the codes in the ECU and be fine? Thanks. I don't think I need to buy new sensors right?
