In the trunk, good gosh, THEN where would you put every other item you have to carry? There is so little storage on the car now...

The Z4 wasn't exactly designed to be a hauler so it seems reasonable to use that space if you dont normally use it anyways. However of course if you fill your trunk on a regular basis then that would be a different case.
I haven't personally put any sort of aftermarket sound system in the cars I've owned but I did help my friend install two 10" rockford fosgate subs in his trunk and it went pretty smoothly, lots of wiring to be done and I dont particularly care for added bass but to each their own. One good piece of advice is absolutely bolt down your sub box. My friends although it weighs a good 40-50 lbs it has still fallen over more times then necessary. Lastly, it's like adding a small child to your trunk the weight will probably be noticeable. |

Ever thought about upgrading the two behind your seats? Might be easier with better results.

I have a Pioneer amp and Pioneer shallow mount 10" subwoofer to replace the woofers behind the seats. 3" depth so mounting should be too big a problem. I plan on fibreglassing a box back there... or something... I'll worry about it when I get to it... in the meantime the sub and amp are collecting dust. |

Honestly, the Carver subs that come with the premium system are plenty for me. I can only take so much boom-boom.

There is a noticable improvement in the sound of my '07 ///M from my old '04 3.0. In the old car I actually had trouble hearing clarity and details at highway speed with the top down. I intended to upgrade the sound system on the M, but i don't need to. It sounds great.:rocks: |

One of my subs must be blown or something because my distortion is off the charts, even at normal listening levels.

I added the subs from my old vehicle in to the hatch. They were 2-10" MB Quarts with a 1000 Watt RMS amp. So a fair size box. I was more or less just trying to see how much of an improvement there would be in sound, then make a box for a single 10. Although the sound improvement was very noticable. It took so much away from space in the back. Even if I decided to go with a solo 10, I did not think the trade off was worth it. I played with the bass level enough to be satisfactory for now with the stock system.
