Yeah, i skipped ahead, to see if i could watch it without getting mad, and a "expert" said if you increase any speed limit on any road and you are guaranteed to have more deaths "FACT".
I won't be watching this. I did research on road safety for my final year project at uni and have seen the stats so it pisses me off when you hear these bs claims from so called experts. BAH!!! im already getting mad

Apart from that, I thought the programme wasn't too bad. There was no attempt to blame the majority of road deaths on "mad speeders" and the female presenter's astonishment that the majority of accidents were relatively low speed crashes from the rear should have been made more of.
On the subject of speed limits I think the lot is baloney. The real speed related problem is "inappropriate speed", and an inappropriate speed can include a speed that is within the legal speed limit. To my mind then, trying to do 70 - 75mph on a stonkingly busy motorway - the type of road found in southern Britain - is probably quite often, inappropriate, whilst doing 100 down an empty 3 lane motorway (the M74 heading south from central Scotland for example) is not inappropriate. |
