Talking to a chap who dosent beleive a re-mapped 335d...
will do better than a 0-60 of 5.4?? what planet is he on???
if autocar did 5.8 then i did 5.5-5.6 stock surely a re-mapped 335d will get into the 4's? Carl

I've been lurking this forum for quite a long time and I can say that you are truly fascinated by numbers.. Bordering with fanaticism..
I don't think any diesel could go down into the 4's.. If it had the necessary power then it would surely have traction problems.. But on the bright side, a diesel that does 0-60 in less than 6 secs is probably in supercar territory in midrange acceleration.. |

That's as if you banged a super model once in your life, and then bragged about it for the rest of your life.. It's lame.. If you want a 4s car buy one, but don't try to make a high 5's, low 6's car something it ain't. Just my opinion. |

I reckon we all chip together and buy Carl a GPS timing unit for his birthday..... once we re-calibrate it to run slow.
Hopefully then when it produces some low to mid 4's for 0-60 we can get BMW to officially change the brochure stats for the car and destroy any historical figures for the 335d supercar. And remember, in the future..... when asked your opinion about which is the quickest: 335i or 335d..... Everyone say... 'Definitely 335d - without a doubt. The figures prove it!' Then.... and maybe then, we will have heard the last of it

Looking at the above link, you're right. Everyone knows that most of the cars on that list are really slow. FFS, most of them in the mid-high 4's have got really bad power to weight ratios. Not like yours, eh? Caterham 7 superlight, for example, only got 260 bhp. pffft. bag o' shite.

ok cafe, mate chill.... i just think it may do a late 4 (re-mapped0, just for the fact it does a mid 5 stock!!! and that the fact peppernick did it in his?!
if a 330-340bhp m3 does it in 4.8 then surely a more powerful 335d with ton smore torque albeit slightly heavier, will do the same time? carl

I think my DMS car would be around 5.5 , and the ton just under 13. Its a diesel 3 series ffs , thats fantastic in my book, its not a Porsche !
Lets face it , if you really enjoy driving a sports car your not going to want an automatic and a engine that doesn't rev are you ? IMO a 335/535D is not a sports car , its a high powered small exucutive saloon for doing long comfortable motorway journeys. I would still pick a 335D over the 335i simply on the fact that when i went out in a 335i i didn't think it was any better than the D unless i picked a Manual. But as this car was a work vehicle i wanted the comforts of an automatic and the economy of the diesel. |

Let's face it, 5.5 is bloody quick...
...especially for a tank of a motor with not enough doors It's still not 4.5 - 4.9 secs though. When you get down to those kind of times, lopping 0.5 sec off takes a lot. I can just see "told you so" thread coming where Carl manages 0-60 in 4.9986677 and has Fanta Pod timing slips to prove it Now; I don't know if it'll do <5secs, I've never even sat in one FFS and TBH I don't even care. I started posting when I read Carl's "What planet is he on?" comment - Like the guy he was talking to was wearing his pants on his head and had suggested that the Queen is actually an alien. Carl - go back and read your "why is everyone so negative" thread again, just for us.

cafe chap, listen your the only one against me at the moment, asking me to refer to my negative (but i stil love you as a forum member, xxx)
there is nothing wrong with this post please understand that my stock 335d is near enough doing 5.5 out of the box:rocks: so all im saying it with a re-map i am wanting a high 4!! not 4.5 thats crazy!! but a high 4 the same as the alpina (which is auto too) Thanks Carl
