Exclamation 2006 BMW 325XI Factory OEM Base Rack

Has anyone ever bought this base rack #82-71-0-403-104 and
discovered that both the bars are different lengths??

The front base rack is longer then the rear one and over hangs
by 1" or so........

Did anyone else notice this with their install?

Here is the pic, I've switched the base rack from front to back, but
you get what I'm trying to say here......hoping they didn't ship me the correct size base bars.

Thanks!
Kevin

I had a similar issue when i first bought my racks.
Those black "base" things can move on that aluminium rail, look for a screw that attaches them together.

Edit: just looked at mine. There are actually 2 screws you can loosen on each side and move the black base on each end. Remove the long rubber protective things on top of the rail and you'll see the screws.

Great! Thanks guys......

also I've looked through some threads on there and found cars with my same year having the same issue. The longer bar is to be installed correctly in the front and the smaller bar in the back.

I was told by the BMW tech that the front bar is longer because of the variety of rack attachments out there that require more space in the front then the back.

Also the front bar has the 'wind clips' installed the lessen the noise, makes sense.
I'm fine with it, just an eye-sore.

Once I install the bike racks on the bars, it will all come together.
