Totaled 330i

Guy hit me as I was going through an intersection (he was turning left and said he didn't see me).

Insurance totaled the car, estimated the cost to fix would be more than $9k.

I am very happy with the settlement, getting almost $2.5k more than I paid for it (just bought it in January).

Anyways, looking at a 2007 335i. Drove it Saturday and it is a completely different car than the 330i - both are 6MT. Looking to pick it up Wednesday....

Well post pictures Wednesday of that 335i. How much did you get that 330i for?

I've always wondered this, but are you actually happy that this guy totaled your car? Like do the benefits outweigh the costs (insurance price jump)

Really doesn't look too bad, all you need is 2 doors, fender and rockers, and the quarter repaired, I am surprised that they totaled it.

How much did you pay for the car? and how much is insurance giving you?

Why would his insurance go up? The OP said some guy hit him in the intersection so the party at fault's insurance company should pay for his replacement car.

It's the other guy fault.

Yah, the other people aren't thinking.

Statistically speaking, his insurance (assuming he stayed with the same exact car, mileage, all the details) should go down.

Some insurance companies raise your rates if you are even involved in a crash (mine does) and it's blatantly not your fault... for some reason I don't know. I'm guessing as a result of being a high risk customer or something.

Umm...why would his insurance go up? He's not at fault and his insurance company is gonna go after the other guy anyway.

Did you get any injuries?
I'm surprised no one has asked him this since he was hit on the driver's side...

Congrats on the 335i! You will love the N54.

I paid $12,400 for it in January, insurance is giving me $14,900, so I can't really complain.

Definitely the other guy's fault, and he admitted it to the police and his insurance company. Cop wrote him a "Failure to Yield" ticket and told me it is a $150 fine and 3 points on his license.

I wasn't sure if it was going to be totaled. However, and you can't see this from the pics, the front tire was the point of impact and it would not turn. So, when the tow truck driver was putting it on the back of the roll truck, the tire did not roll, it just drug along. Also, when he turned the steering wheel, the passenger side front tire would turn with the wheel, as it should, but the driver's side front tire did not move at all. So, there must have been some serious damage there.

Wasn't hurt at all, not even sore. The driver's side door would not open, so I had to climb out the passenger side.

Pics of the 335i coming shortly...
