A Few Noob Questions :D
Hi all,
I recently got my 2007 335i and I love it I have a few questions though: 1. How long does it take for the engine to reach normal operating temperature? I only see the oil temp which goes from 70 up to 120. I have been using this as a guide and thinking that this engine takes forever to warm up. Then it dawned on me that it's the oil temp, not coolant temp 2. I have the rattling wastgate actuator rod. I have read a few threads here about it but I was wondering if there's a DIY guide with photos anywhere? I do all my own maintenance so I'm very confident when it comes to engine work. 3. My seatbelt assist doesn't really work right. The passenger side is fine but the driver's one doesn't catch at all. I have noticed that the belt is actually backwards i.e. the buckle is facing the door rather than the seat whereas on the passenger side, it's facing the seat. Is it as simple as unbolting the bar on the floor and turning the belt around? Thanks for your time! |

Thanks guys. I have that DIY bookmarked already but what I'm looking for is a step-by-step procedure from opening the bonnet to tightening that bolt again.
I've seen videos on YT whereby you starch and iron the seatbelt so that it catches again! Genius solution! Also, one more thing - My steering wheel has the buttons for phone/bluetooth. Does this mean that I have it or is the car just wired for it? If I have it, how do I set it up? Last edited by MetzgerMeister; 09-10-2012 at 09:59 AM.. |

I believe the cars come wired to begin with so you will have to go through your menu on the radio to confirm bluetooth. I dont have, dont need it, but my car is wired on the wheel.

#1 Oil temps are more important then coolant (water) temp! BMW did the wright thing when they placed a oil temp gauge there instead of a water temp one! And yes, it needs some time before you can break hell loose

How many miles on the car? The turbo's and wastegates are warrantied to 82,000 miles now. You may be able to get new turbo's for free.
Oops. Just saw you are in Ireland. Not sure about the warranty there. |

I don't have iDrive or Nav in my one, here's hoping it's easy to set up without it!
BMW cover the HPFP only if the car has been serviced by BMW from its first service. Mine isn't that way at all so if that goes, I'm fooked. I haven't heard of the turbo's and wastegates being covered here. Ireland is SH!TE when it comes to warranties. The US gets treated like royalty due to the indigenous car industry. |
