Front Bumper installment issues after Front PDC mod

Hi,

I was wondering if someone can help me with this or run into this issue. I installed the front PDC sensors on my 2009 335i xDrive coupe (e92). I drilled the holes as marked on the inside of the bumper.

I went to put back the bumper and it doesnt fit at all since the 2 middle (right and left) sensors have no clearance so the bumper is not fitting properly unless I take off the 2 middle sensors. I have 2 holes and stuck not knowing what to do.

Do I need to buy something or modify something. I followed the instruction of how to install the front PDC on e92/e93 but none was mentioned that i will run into this issue.

Any help on this is greatly appreciated

Thanks

Is it possible that you also need to drill clearance holes in the front bumper support that is behind the bumper cover for the center sensors?

I was looking at it and that's the same thought I had but the instructions didn't call to do that. I guess I will do that

When you try to put the cover in place - is it evident that the sensors are hitting the bumper support in the area the cover will not go all the way back?

In looking at the part diagrams for your car - I don't see a Bumper Carrier or Impact Absorber that is specific to PDC. They only list one possibility for each.

Allthough the pic of the Impact Absorber DOES show indentations that seem to be where the sensors would go...

Are you using the Retrofit Kit and the retrofit kit instructions? I don't see any mention of modifying the imact absorber or bumer carrier in those instructions either...

I am following the retrofit kit instructions and have the front retrofit kit and currently there is no clearance for the 2 middle sensors to go into. I definitley i need to modify impact absorber. The indentations on the impact absorber does not line up to were the sensors will go in..........

I guess i need to drill a hole into the impact absorber so that the senors can fit in

OP, I went from regular sport w/ front pdc to M sport. The front two sensors will not clear the new bumper, so I had the shop doing the installation modify one of the front bars by cutting it so the sensors would fit. I was told this is the only way the front two sensors will clear so the bumper can be fit.

Thanks, it seems thats the only option. I went and got a 2in bimetal holesaw bit to drill tomorrow 2 holes to fit the sensors in.

Why would BMW have the bumper marked from the inside if the sensors will not fit. Also why wouldnt the PDC Retrofit e92/e93 instructions provide that info that the front bumper support need to be modified........that would have been helpful so we know what we are getting into prior to doing this modification

Does anyone have pictures of how they cut/modified the front bumper support to install the front PDC sensors on a 2009 335ix e92

Thanks
