Po456 Code and Gas Cap

I have already searched this and know that it could be the gas cap or something else. Just wanted to get some votes on whether I should just replace the gas cap and see it that corrects the issue or do a smoke test.

I have a 2006 325i and I have already cleared the code and it came back on after a week. I have owned the car for a year and a half.

Thanks in advance!

Gas cap is probably the cheapest solution. But there's a good chance it's not the root/cause of the problem. You likely have a leak somewhere (apparently a common problem with cars that have the N52 engine.)
