Question thin layer of film/fog on windshield

I am posting here because I figured i'd get a faster/better response since this isn't just 135i related, more N54 related...and the 3 series have more posters . I do have a 08 135i.

For some reason I get a film on the inside of the windshield, sometimes it's pretty thick and I have to rub it away, but it just comes back. I assume it's the AC compressor?

Would something like this be covered under a third party warranty? I would like to ask them before I bring it into the dealer to diagnose and have to pay the diag if it's not covered.

normal deposit as a result of the (normal) out-gassing of the plastic dash.

really.

Normal. It is also just the pollutants that run through the car ventilation.
Keep cleaning. It's happens on every car I have ever owned.

could be plastics, but also could be coolant leaking out of heater core. If you smell a sweet smell (like pancakes w. syrup) then its coolant, and you have to get the core changed out.

yeah, not sweet at all...which is good I guess, haha.

anyone else notice the plastics fading, like just the vents, and around the lock mechanisms?

I would use automotive window cleaner, not to sure how Windex will/if harm your interior. Especially for tinted windows, don't want to use ammonia products, once again, not sure if Windex is ammonia free.

i use Eagle One 20/20 window cleaner, works like magic.

Stop breathing in your car. JK yea that is a major pain in the ass, and if you don't clean it properly it just becomes a glary smeary mess that makes night driving a frikkin nightmare!

I've always used invisible glass, and always had tinted windows, no issues, does a great job.

A film inside the windshield is fairly normal for reasons mentioned but I've never had it happen before the rest of the car needs to be cleaned.

exactly, my audi did it too, and my buddies cts-v does as well, so I imagine it's normal, haha.

i'll get that 2020 eagle stuff and clean it off.

where specifically should I clean? I just assumed cleaning the windshield would cover it ... otherwise the car is spotless. I don't eat in it, I just recently vacuumed the floors and whatnot from the small debris that i've accumulated over the summer.
