Care to speculate about the audio system?

I've read a bit about the "BMW Individual High End Audio System"

Quote:
As yet a further option the new BMW M3 may also be fitted with the BMW Individual High-End audio system specially developed by BMW M GmbH and offering the occupants a truly outstanding experience in sound tailored specifically to the acoustics of the car.
I'm wondering if Steved can comment or if anyone would like to make uninformed speculation about the quality? I spent a weekend with my e46 replacing all the speakers, adding an amplifier, a PhatBox and a 12" sub. I'd like to not have to do that again, although I expect I'll still have to add bass.

Yes, I realize that for some readers they'd prefer to delete all heavy audio equipment, please move on.

I hope I can tell you in a few months time, I am however curious to know how good it is.

Is there any M5 or Individual guys on this forum that have this option?

The E46 M3 premium sound system sucked. If I don't hear good reviews on the new one, I'll likely go aftermarket.

That "High End Audio System" is said to be great. German AMS "tested" it in a M5 Touring and they called it "the probably best audio system" (while in stereo mode).

Best regards, south

There are some nice details about the audio system (and many tech. details on the car in general) here at WCF. Hope this helps.

Sounds good. Guess I'll have to "test-drive" it before I pay the extra $xxxx dollars for it.

I have been very interested in this myself. With two Meridian systems at home my dream is that BMW may have partnered with them for the design. Certainly this is simply a moist dream, but perhaps another high-end company lent a bit of a hand? I think Linn and Aston Martin have worked together as well as Mark Levinson with Lexus. Does anyone know if BMW has worked with any other company in the past?

I saw that McIntosh worked with Ford on the GT. Mindless info.

I have the Harman Kardon option in my E46 330i, but it is not that impressive.
I went for the Individual High End option in the M3, I assume that it is better than the Logic7 stuff. Time will show.

Does anyone have any more information on the difference between the Logic7 and the Individual audio systems?

It is a $2,000 option here in Oz to get the high end system, not much when you consider the price of the car but I would like to know it will provide a reasonable improvement in sound.
