Thumbs down WTF?!!my week 31 production now changed

I placed my order on 7.27 last friday, was told by my CA that they were able to "modify a week 31" production. I emailed him today to find out if the car was in production and his response was :

"Actually no, and the production date got moved to a later date, we have a call with BMWNA to see what happend and if they can help us, I'll let you know as soon as we have an update"

So pretty much I'm assuming my car is not going to be built this month as the factories shut down for 3 weeks starting 8.12. Which sucks. Has this happend to anyone on here? or anyone know of why this would happen? I am so pissed right now

Garage List
You shouldn't be surprised.

A 112 status vehicle is very close to entering production (hours.. days). BMW actually sources the parts and orders them once the vehicle is in the 112-150 stage, so they once it goes 150 the parts are already picked and things get moving (hence the status "entered the daily production pack"). Which is why production is so quick, everything is there in the factory waiting. (Imagine the entire assembly line holding up because they were missing an interior trim strip, or a shift knob, or a heated steering wheel, etc.) It's all prepared prior to "production."

There was a rumor of the factory not shutting down in Aug but I have absolutely no idea if there's any truth behind it.

Also, just a reality check, a 1 week production turnaround is unheard of (let alone 3 days in your case.... Friday-Monday). Realistically you'd see a 2-5 week turnaround from an order being placed -> production begin.

That probably sounds harsh, but that's sorta just how it is. Those (in the states, anyway) who pre-ordered 2013s prior to 2013 production don't even have their cars yet, and some have reported still waiting for an allocation. So there are definitely others in the same boat.

Exclamation Production Week Change

Yes, it happened to me too. When I ordered my 2013 335xi in early June, I was told that it was a Week 27 production slot. When no word (website, phone site or CA) was forthcoming after Week 27 started, I queried the CA and was informed that my date had been postponed to Week 30. I've never been able to find out why!!

Supposedly the car is now in production with completion slated for Aug. 3....but I'll believe it when I get confirmation, not before.

Ordered my F30 320i on the 13th of July, it is an individual order with about R110 000 ($13 000) of extras. It has been delivered to the dealership as we speak. According to my CA I can pick it this coming Saturday (4th August), only delay, else I could have taken delivery on Friday, is because a tracker unit and 35% tint need to be fitted.

But then again I stay about 15km from Plant Rosslyn here in South Africa and about 10km from the dealership.

PS: I am not working for BMW, I am a Technical IT Service Manager at a major company here in South Africa.

you ordered on 7/13, and you're getting Sept? that means the car should be in production already---how did it happen this quick for you?

lucky you--but that sounds like about the same turn around I had on my wife's F25 X3, since I'm only about 2.5 hrs away from the factory in S.C and 15 mins from my dealer here. Enjoy the car congrats!

btw I was born in Gaborone!

I ordered a MY 2013 335i on 06/05.
The car is on a ship right now. My CA said it will arrive between 08/15 - 08/30.
I hope to get it within the next 2 weeks of course.

Mine was ordered on 24th May with the 19" wheels so I'm hoping it's not going to be delayed now.

It's now in the production stage with production week 33 showing. From what I can work out this is w/c 13th August, can anyone confirm? If that is the case, this is when the factory is on shut down so I'm even more confused now.

I keep telling myself that I've not been notified of any delays and as it's at production stage I'll be ok but there's a nagging doubt there now

hmm that is interesting--they are closed from what I hear from 8/13-8/24 so not sure how it could be week 33?... Also if it is a week 33, then I am assuming it will be delayed too, unless this is only affecting certain cars, or cars going to certain areas--check with your CA... make sure its in 112 status, as again mine was a 112, then moved to 111, and thats when we found out it was because of the wheels.

After looking into what the chassis number means, from what I can tell my car will be built at Regensberg.

After then trawling the net for several hours I came upon this:
http://www.autonewswire.net/article.php?id=10777
which seems to say that the plant will be working through the summer so maybe my week 33 is a likely build week after all.

Of course, all this goes out the window if they don't have the wheels...

well thats good news that they are working through--I wonder if the other factories are the same..knowing my luck mine is elsewhere and will be delayed even with me opting not to go with the 19s
