Substitute 19" summer tires for winter tires when taking delivery?
Does anyone know if its possible to ask the dealership to sustitute the summer tires for winter tires when taking delivery? I am planning on getting the 19" 403M wheels but want to use them for winter and get an aftermarket 20" BMW replica set for summer.
I know I can always sell the summers on eBay/craigslist/kijiji them but if it came with winter it would save me the hassle. Last edited by HouseMusicRules; 07-18-2012 at 11:02 PM.. |

Yes absolutely.
I am doing a similar variant. But it might cost you a few bucks (which should be fair). My 335i is coming with 18", but I have a set of 19" rims+tires+tpms waiting and am dropping them at the dealer the day before delivery so they can mount them for me. Since I bought the car for them etc. they are doing it free. For you, you'll probably want to start a convo with the Service manager or a service advisor, and tell them of your wishes. I'm sure for $800-1200 they can set you up with some winter tires and have them mounted & balanced etc. Or you could pick up the tires yourself and bring them in, there's a few ways to do it...

I think what the OP means to say is will they give him 19" winters instead of summers, on the 19" wheels, as a substitution not additional purchase.
Just the same, it's worth asking your dealer. Not sure they would since the car will come from the factory with the 19's and there is no winter nor all season tire option on the 19's, but it's worth a shot. That said, I would think 19's are a bit big for winter wheels. If you have other wheels in mind for the summer, you may want consider to sticking with the stock 18's and spend the extra cash on winter tires (or try the stock all seasons and see if they are sufficient). |
