Initial Dynos of JB N20 Tuner

We strapped the F30 on the dyno today and did before and after runs for Burger Tuning's beta JB tuner for the N20 motor. The next step is to drive the car on the tuner and check for DTCs over the long run. For a first map the gains were solid: Apologies for the iPhone pic, but we shut the shop down early due to excessive heat.

top end delta gains look great! 34whp and 24wtq out of a stage 1 4-banger. Thumbs Up.

Nice gains out of the box! Is this with the new 6/20 firmware? Are you using the 3psi or 4psi setting?

What's the deal with the car looking as if it lost power below 3200rpms?

Is this tune available for N20 in 320i (Canadian version) as well? I have always wonder what's the difference between N20 in 320i and 328i since they are using the same base engine.

BMS has not tested it yet on the 320 but is looking for a test car to do logs, and then they will send you firmware, etc. If you have one and are interested drop them an email.

I am interested...However, first, do you know in terms of technical, what causes the difference in HP and Torque between 320 and 328?

I second that question. The graphs look like the car is running lean before it finally matches the factory afr AND it is losing both HP and Torque below 3,300. What is up with that?

The tuned run was started a few hundred RPM later than the OEM run.

Why would you start comparative dynos at different rpms? It looks like both traps start at 2500rpms.

UM ok...that might explain the HP and Torque being below stock. How about the AFR?

AFR looks exactly the same as the stock runs. Stoich during spool by design settling down to high 11s by peak torque. AFR is mapped on boost so since the tuned run started a bit later it's AFR transition is shifted to the right slightly. Pretty basic stuff here guys. Seems you are over analyzing it.

Being condescending is not good sales practice. It is a surefire way to send potential customers to other vendors.
