Oil Temp on HOT days
I have a 2010 335XI with a JB4. I do not have the factory oil cooler.
My normal oil temp is 230-240F (110-115C). Today in Northern Virginia it is extremely hot. Outdoor temp is 102F (39C), and my car thermometer read 107F (42C). My oil temp was sitting at 210-220F (99-104C). What is happening here? Why am I running so much COOLER when the outside temp is soaring? Ideas anyone??

because you probably didnt drive long enough for the car to warm up, or you probably just did some stop and go driving, it was 110 in illinois with the heat index yesterday and my car was sitting right at 240-250 after driving for about 15-20 minutes, but then today when i went for a drive temp was 90-93 outside my car was sitting at 210-220 for awhile but then after driving for about 40 minutes it was right back to 240-250

Answer: Your fan runs more and humidity plays a HUGE factor in cooling efficiency.
I didn't know that 2010s didn't have the additional cooler! I thought that was only 2007s |

The additional cooler is a part of the Sport Package. You can have a car with Sport Package or without Sport Package regardless of the year. Maybe it is different with e92, but that's the way it is with e90.

Your radiator fan was rockin n rollin because your ac was on. Drive around without the ac and your temps will be normal because the fan will only come on once your temp reaches a certain threshold.

These cars have several cooling maps based on ambient temp, load etc.... It is quite possible that the higher amb temps call for the ~90C cooling map.
