G37 vs 3 series..EDMUNDS GOT IT RIGHT

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=108901

"Good straight-ahead sense also kept the G37 from being influenced either by crosswinds or highly crowned roads. But even in these circumstances, we still noticed the detached feel of the steering. Infiniti has another step yet to go to match the BMW 3 Series in this department."

Infinity is the cheaper version.. Pretty much bargain car... If you want power, and looks for a low price, G35/37 great for the pocket and looks.... If you want quality in every aspect and don't mind paying extra, 3

"QFT", internet slang meaning "quoted for truth". This term applies on forums and posting boards where users can edit their posts, thus the QFT holds the poster to their original statement. It is also used to express agreement with a previous poster's statement and validate its veracity.

ok cool = D i thought it stood for "quick f@# talkin" lol

I'm def 100% i went for 335i... Get the sport package on the 335i, and wow.

Don't get me wrong if you can't or feel you don't want to put out that much for a car, the G37 will be a GREAT bang for the bucks!!!

I think that's going a bit far, fuel pump, oil cooler issues.... I would also be seriously surprised if the nav system on the Infiniti wasn't better than the one in the 3 series.

On balance I think the 3 series still is a better car for me, but it certainly isn't ahead in every category.

aside from possible nav interface and lower price, what does will the G37 have that the 335i doesn't?.... IN terms of dermining which is better?... Because from what i read, it's a bit slower, Has lower mpg, doesn't steer a good as bmw, etc......

I'm not arguing that the 3 series has the edge in terms of the drive, but to say "If you want quality in every aspect and don't mind paying extra" I think is going a too far.

The main reasons that the new '08 G37 is edging out the 335i in initial comparos are b/c of the following:

1) Better "bang for your buck" since it offers 9/10th of the performance and quality of the BMW 335i...for about $7k less.
2) Higher Japanese reliability.
3) Superior electronics...yes, it's true; e.g. the Infiniti Navi system is far superior to that of the BMW Navi system, the 10GB HDD for storing music, pictures, media files, rear-view camera, etc.

That's pretty much it. I came from driving 2 Infiniti's...a modded and loaded '04 G35 and a loaded FX35...they're really are excellent vehicles. However, I now believe that the BMW's are just one notch above, especially in terms of overall driving experience.

In the case of the 335i vs. the G37, the 335i still wins b/c of the overall driving experience, it's faster, it has the far superior 6AT ZF tranny, it may handle better (although I guess the Infiniti G37 is now about equal in terms of the skid pad numbers), and of course it has a much higher performance modding potential with the F/I tt N54 engine (a la PROcede, XEDE, or whatever). As we all know (and believe me, most of the Infiniti G35/G37 drivers know or will soon know) that a 335i w/ an additional $1,300 PROcede will just blow a G37 away!!!! :rocks: Let's just say that many of us will be having a lot of fun running against these G37s!!!!

i hope they decide to throw a turbo on the G37 in a year or two and release very high output version. That would get some great results out of BMW.

Im pretty sure that most, if not all, makers will use turbos/superchargers in most if not all their cars in the near future.

all of you guys who are making judgements have not even driven the g37. it quite possibly can be better and more of a value than the 335i. cars have come a far way nowadays. even GM make quality cars. don't fool yourselves guys, bmw is not superior to everything that comes on the market.

Probably not in the Infiniti G37, since that's currently slated for the 3.7L tt Nissan GT-R. Unless, a few years down the road, they detune that engine to make, say 380-400BHP and stick it in the G; but then again, that would drive the price up and the G would lose its niche....so I doubt it.
