Why is the stock sound system so bad?

The stock sound system that came on my 2011 e90 is terrible. The bass sucks and when I put the volume on full, it's not even that loud. If I were to get a sub, would that help the issue? The cars a lease so I don't want to get get a fully new sound system, something small that will help.

its rubbish i know.

Have a read of the sticky. it should show u all ur options. however i dont think u can just put something small and improve the sound significantly. you'll need to part with a decent amount of cash

Did you get the one with tweeters or the ampless base model.
