Brakes rattle when coming to a complete stop

Excuse my noobness in trying to explain this, but I have no correct words for it.

Basically, when I brake, after deceleration, there's that "settling" of the car, becoming immobile, i.e. slow down, and then the carr will pull back and rest...immobile.

So, when I slow down, and get to that part where it pulls back and settles, my brakes make an annoying noise, like as if they are unstable and about to fall apart...a sort of a creeking noise. This noise is also innevitable on hills, where the car is bound to pull back, unlike on a flat surface, where you can stop the car extremely smoothly.

I really hope someone understands what I'm talking about, because I can't really put it into the correct words.

P.S. I have 550 km on my car..is this some part of brake break-in?

If the brakes make a squealing sound, it is your brake pads.

If the brakes make your steering wheel vibrate when pushing the brake pedal..it is your rotors.

You can bring it to the dealership to have them analyze it or if you want, you can try bedding the pads in. Do this only on an open road...Do a set of 5-6 hard stopping from 60-10 MPH and drive for about 2-5 mins after without touching the brake pedal.

If it sounds like a Wood sailboat kinda creaking? Then it's probably nothing.

Have you been taking it pretty easy on the brand new brakes? They need a few hundred miles to really find their "Groove" so to speak. Misuse early on can result in pads not bedding in properly.

Also, the Clutch in the 6-speed is kinda rattly sometimes...

It's not squealing and there's no vibration...it's more of a creeking sound.

As the pressure is applied, the car slows down, and when it completely stops, it pulls back (as is normal) and that back up makes a sound...maybe it's the direction change of the rotors on the pads...maybe it's something else...idk

Why would you ever want to come to a complete stop?

Yeah, it is like a wood sailboat kinda creaking...

I have been taking it easy on the brakes, but there have been the unexpected stops and the fact that I had to get used to how easily pressure-sensitive these brakes are compared to my old Nissan. Is that OK? Is that enough to not have them bed in properly? If they haven't, is there any way they will after a while?

Thanks guys.

Sounds like you're just a little overly concerned and listenign to every little noise.

If it is just a little "Sail Boat" noise then I wouldn't worry about it unless is accompanied by some vibration of shimmy. Sounds pretty normal.

BUT, That being said it might be worth just heading to the dealership just to make sure that it's nothing. Would be pretty bad to listen to some Internet shit head lobbing out possibilities, only to have your brakes fail and cause lots of drama.

Sounds from his description that it may more likely be from the reversing of weight distribution (front to back) after the braking is complete...when the car settles back on its springs. Not the actual brake assembly. Might be a bad suspension bushing?

Anything like that would be covered under warranty. If it's that easy to hear, just take it to the dealer, and ride with the SA to let him hear it.

How long would something like this take to change?

Also, if unable to go service it, is it dangerous to drive on it if it makes that creek?

Thanks.

Shouldn't be more than one day in the shop, and I doubt that it is dangerous. If it starts to get louder or you feel looseness in the suspension, then take it in right away.

Make an appointment at your service department and when you bring it in make sure you take a test ride with your SA so you can point out exactly what you are referring to.

I just wanted to be the class clown before someone else got to it. The advice above is good - take Steve's advice and demonstrate to the SA or tech what you are experiencing.
