Towel fuzzies/lint

I decided to follow the zaino's recommendation by only washing and drying with a white, 100% cotton bath towel. Worked great for washing, however with drying, there are white fuzzies all over the car! I emailed Zaino to ask about if this affects the application of their product, and Sal emailed back and said not to worry about the fuzz, it'll just blow off the car. Well 3 days after drying the car with a white towel, I still have fuzz in the cracks all over and hanging onto the velour looking trim around the sunroof. This makes me not want to use the white towel!! Ugly fuzz! I prefer the absorber, but zaino doesn't recommend using it since it's "flat" and can trap dirt particles to drag across the surface of the car when drying. what do you guys think?

I have the same problem, you can see it in the picture, white and red lint. The red lint came from callifornia duster.

You need to change your cotton towels to Microfiber towels and you won't have that problem(except on the sunroof liner as you can see in BTC's case above). Carl sells these great(white) microfiber towels on his site in many different sizes. Did you wash your towel before using it? I mean did you buy it brand new and use it? If so, that would be the problem. Towels need to be washed once with a "no harsh"(woolite) liquid detergent and rinsed at least 2 times before initial use.

I did wash the towels first. Zaino also doesn't recommend the microfiber towels either since the quality of them are not consistent...I guess some scratch and some don't. Maybe I'll have to find some nice ones. Here's what Zaino says about microfiber:

And here are their towel "guidelines":

This is true....I see you are from Italy but here in the states we have stores like Target,Wallmart, etc that carry these towels and sell 4 for like $5 usd. These are the towels that Zaino is talking about. They are cheap imitations and poorly made. Click on this link...These are the BEST towels I have ever used and they come in different sizes. I order stuff from this website all the time and they are great. Fast shipping...no problems... Look on the left side and click the towels link(DF towels).

Cool, thanks for the info! I have emailed Zaino about these towels, I didn't see any info on the zaino website about them.

Not sure if other threads have mentioned a fix for the fuzz and lint, but I use *gently* masking tape to lift off dried lint. Any other tape will do I guess, however, be careful because many will leave residue. I use the 3M painters tape to remove lint/towel fibers from all those non-plastic, yet non-leather surfaces -- especially the lining around the sunroof and near around our doors.

norcalguy,

That's a great suggestion, thanks! I've been using a stiff-bristled toothbrush to do it and it was a pain-in-the-@ss!

I used to get lint from the cotten towels I used to dry the door jams after a wash, but then I switched to using my absorber which leaves no lint. For the exterior, I avoid lint by using micro fiber towels for the application and removal of Z2, buffing and windows. No scratching happens to me. I get all my micro fiber towels from my local Zaino distributer.

What brand micro fiber towels do you use? I would think it would be really hard to dry a car using just regular cotton towels. In the past I have always used those leather rags.

I've been using MF towels from pakshak.com and they have been excellent!

I use a skeepskin wash mitt for washing and MF towels for drying and buffing. (Waffle Weave for drying, and regular and plush MF towels for buffing)
