Arrow Iphone connectivity with snap-in adapter Base Professional Radio

Have been searched for hours but unable to answer what should be a simple question:

Am about to take delivery on a 318i sport plus E90 (built late 2011) that has the following features:

- Bluetooth Telephone preparation
- USB Audio Interface

It has the base professional radio (NOT SAT NAVIGATION OR IDRIVE).

What I would like to know is if I purchase the Iphone4 'MEDIA' or 'MUSIC' snap-in adaptor, does this provide USB connectivity to the base professional radio for music playback?

Another question, with the USB audio interface addon, where does this provide USB sockets? Glovebox and centre console?

Thanks..

Anyone?

I was speaking to the dealer today and he implied that it could only be done through the Y cable (USB and AUX)... Bit of a shame if that is the case.

TIA.

The USB connection is in the center armrest, should include the Y-cable, and will allow you to play audio through it.

I'm not entirely certain what the snap-in adapter gives you. I vaguely recall reading something about hooking into the car's antennas to give you a better wireless signal, but I may have imagined that.

Not sure if the Y-Cable will be included but yeah, I understand that it will do the job by routing the sound via the AUX socket.

The snap-in adapter can give you:
- better reception
- charge the phone
- stable storage.

I'm hoping I can add - usb audio to that list but this dream is fading.

Need to find out if I have a 'COMBOX' in the car I believe..

My phone charges (albeit, slowly) using the Y-cable... and I usually don't have the AUX-end of the Y-cable plugged into the car, so presumably when I listen to music off my iPhone its doing all its business via USB.

OK, and do you have the CIC/Idrive or just the professional radio?

It must mean you have the COMBOX installed which supports the native playing of the music tracks from apple devices.

Starting to get somewhere..

OK, I am specifically interested in a NON-IDRIVE solution.

I think the question will be, if I need to install a COMBOX, how much effort will it be.
