Automated tracking unreliable
I mentioned in a previous post that my vehicle was scheduled to reach the port (here in USA) on Oct. 29 according to my salesman. He called me yesterday (Nov.1) to let me know that the car had been released from the processing center and was now on a truck in route to the dealership. It should arrive there Friday. The 800 number now states that "the vehicle is at the port awaiting a shipping vessel." Via the internet, it is still "en route to the processing center." Why spend the money to have such a system if it is so unreliable???

The problem is that they do not have this information real time as with the dealership system which is almost real time. That is why they often tell you to contact your dealership for the most up to date status on your vehicle. The 800 number use to be really good years ago but they pulled that information from the customer care and only supply the dealer with it. Hopefully they will give the system a major overhaul soon and have everything real time since they are running SAP it should be easy.

Yeah, I think the system is milestone driven by updates that are batch processed, etc. Your dealer always has better info. The good news is that you received a pleasant surprise!

Yeah, my car is listed as scheduled for completion on Nov. 9 according to the automated info at the 800 number, but the humanoid told me it was "locked at code 150" and not even supposed to go into production until the 9th. Would it make sense for the car to be at 150 status for more than a week?

I bet it is an est. completion date of Nov. 9th. It could be prior to the 9th or after the 9th. Just a ballpark date. |
