Oil residue/drips in charge pipe?
I was going to tackle the valve cleaning job today when I came across a bunch of oil residue/drops in the charge pipe. From doing other jobs on other vehicles, I've seen oil residue before in pipes. It's not uncommon in other vehicles but it did seem like more than I would like.
My question is, when you changed out your charge pipe, disconnected it for valve cleaning, etc, did you guys notice a bunch of oil residue/drops or not? I don't seem to be loosing much oil, if any (still says full). Car doesn't smoke but the cats may be hiding it. I just want to make sure I don't have a case of a blown turbo. Since the car still has 4600 miles left in the warranty, I should be able to get it covered if it is going out. 2008, aprox 44,000 miles Thanks for any help Todd |

I usually find a little puddle in the coupler between the intercooler and charge pipe. I've taken mine off and on numerous times since I've had the car, freaked me out the first time too.

Yes indeed. Get an oil catch can. Easy to install.

Thanks for the replies.
I've used OCC's in all my high performance cars. I I've definitely been researching OCC's. I will be ordering the BMS OCC today. On a side note. I completed the valve cleaning today. I used a different method and device than the walnut blaster. I think this way is better and should help others wanting to do it. Write up and pic.s coming soon |
