JB4 on the IS
They just released IS specific firmware for the JB4. It boosts PSI in the middle ranges over the current firmware & also changes the AFR to better support this version on the N54. Also good for the sport car & 1M.

The engine in the IS models and 1M is identical to every other n54 with the exception of a bit better cooling so why would there be a different set of firmware?
Since most n54 guys running software have added the additional cooling components anyway it seems like once you add software it shouldn't matter what badge is on the back of the car. |

Two things, first the IS has a different factory timing profile then the stock N54 so boost limits can be set more aggressively on the JB4 IS running 93 octane.
Second the word is "firmware" not software, two different things. The 3/7 interface now has a drop down menu to choose N55, N54 & N54 IS. The user definied settings for All AFR are totally different then the stock N54

its not firmware that was "just released" it is the new interface that has a model specific option, for model specific options(gauges etc.)

Nevermind.. I see this though I am curious as to what the impact is.. I get it for tune only cars.. but FBO cars??
I don't understand why AFR ratios would be touched or why the IS would be "boosting psi in the mid range"... I can understand minor adjustments, but impacts to afr and where the car is boosting?? Please provide actual differences in the adjustments if you have them.. thanks |

The AFR all settings are now totally different between with the new & old versions where they were the same for both models.
To me getting more boost up the middle of the RPM range is new to me no matter how you want to parse the words.

Yes tune only waiting for the Brown Truck to drop off an FMIC but that will be my only mod. Just looking for a slight edge over other IS cars
IS Map 6 no bolt-ons 15psi from 2500 to 5000rpm Stock Map 6 15psi from 5000 to 5500rpm. All other RPM steps have higher boost across the board for the IS starting at 1500 rpm where its 13psi vs. 10psi
