Exclamation E9X Stock Exhaust Help

Long story short, I stopped by a local exhaust shop who built a custom exhaust for my Chrysler to see what can they do for my 335i. I'm looking for something that have a deeper tone and will free up a few extra ponies. The guy told me that the stock exhaust system looks pretty good until after the X-pipe. It gets pretty restrictive and said if it was his car, he'll just change it after the X-pipe with new piping with less bends and mufflers. Are there anyone out there that have tried this (or something similar) that can chime in or post a vid? He quoted me $540 installed with MagnaFlo mufflers which is cheaper than any other exhaust or catbacks out there.

SN: I'm not thinking about going straight pipes or cats-delete since they're small.

Thats what I have. Magnaflow with Cyba quads and CF diffuser. Its definitely deeper, louder and gives a nice burble on decel. I have AT. You'll get a little drone at 2k but I'm more sensitive than most. If you're MT, you'll probably have very little to worry about. Long story short, I plan to make an audio clip soon as I will sell off my setup. Keep a look out. Hopefully, I'll do it within the week.

On stock turbos there's really nothing to be gained beyond sound. And the Magnaflow mufflers sound like poop if you ask me. I'd just get the PE or another set of good mufflers, take the additional 1 hp and call it a day.

Just delete secondary cats if its just for sound. Itll sound deeper and slighty louder.

Noted. That was the orginal game plan, but paying that much for a PE or Remus axle back, I might as well buy a Vangaurd system.

This.

I had the stock exhaust with AA cattless downpipes. Nice sound but i wanted louder. I got the Magnaflow mufflers. They are definitely deeper and louder but not better than the stock exhaust note imo.
Im waiting to go BMW PE now.

Do you have a sound clip and know what mufflers? I'm weighting my options and starting to lean towards Remus or Vangaurd.

OP, I had Vanguard. Hear it in person before you drop the money on it. I couldn't stand the drone after a while.

Thanks for the heads up and honesty . Maybe I should just be satisfied with the stock one and just change the tips?

Since you already have catless downpipes, now you should replace your secondary cats with resonators, or high flow cats and itll sound great.
