Custom snorkel bracket for DCI's?

Has anyone fabricated a bracket for the OEM snorkel so that it directs air flow a bit better towards the DCI's? I've seen some rig a coat hanger wire which is a look I'm trying to avoid.

That looks pretty well directed, from the pictures... Any pictures of this coat hanger setup you speak of?

I used to zip tie the right side of the snorkel to the power steering for a directed flow. Black zip tie wasn't too noticeable.

people just buy the OEM snorkel for the 328 and swap it with the 335i snorkel

Did this too, worked fine. It already has a hole/slot there. is designed to flex and a black ziptie blends in perfectly.

Good to know. I think this could be a good option. Any pics of this on a N54?

Yeah I thought of this too but wasn't sure how clean it would look. Any pics?

I dont got a better picture but i made, cut, and bent a piece out of ALUM.. Its like a U but with one side being longer. It pulls and direct the snorkel directly towards the DCI. And i painted it back to better blend.

This wasnt the finished product but about as close and recent of a pic i got.. These pic's were taken a while back.

go hard or go home hahaa.. While doing my FMIC IAT logs for the IAT thread i made, i did do a small test on 60mph crusing IAT DCI alone vs 60mph crusing with scoops and the snorkel at the DCI, i never posted the results but everything else equal the IAT did stay a good amount cooler..
If anything the scoops brings some ambient temps around the DCI and mixes in with the extreme under hood temps.

+1 I think with a dual cone setup, scoops will be beneficial. Scoops don't do much with the stock system because you already have suction from the stock intake system as a closed loop. But without the suction, you'll need scoops to get the air into the engine bay.

I def agree. I mean anyone can do a before and after test and log the IAT, and see the results for themselves. Just have to keep everyting as equal as possible. between the two trials.. I thought 60mph as a good speed, and im sure even higher speeds will yeild even better results. It comes down to NO ambient air hitting the DCI vs Ambient air hitting the DCI. So its pretty obivous before my loggin what i was gonna see.

woah, nice setup 1LUMI.

and yes, scoops do make a noticeable difference in the amount of air rammed into the engine bay. It probably does not make a noticeable difference in performance and cooling IATs but more air is still being rammed in and its only for the better.

After installing scoops for, i noticed my cones got dirtier on the left side (where the snorkel directs the airflow) at a faster rate.
