Midpipe, X-Pipe Question!!!!!!!

Okay so I currently have catless 3'' dps with the rest of the exhaust stock (secondary cats & muffler in place).. yes, it instantly sounded much nicer with the downpipes but its definetly not enough. I was told the next step without doing a full exhaust would be to replace the MIDPIPE (which would be a secondary cat delete).. Im just not sure if that will be enough, im scared to do a muffler delete because of all this drone talk...

Ps. I want that CRACKLE CRACKLE POP POP POP POP when you hold the gas at a steady level... You're either gunna know what im talking about here or not lol..

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

You can go to any decent exhaust shop and have them delete the second cats. You can delete the x-pipe in e92 or resonator in e90 for a louder sound. Just leaving the mufflers in place..

There are very few options. From my experience if you want more sound get an axle back. If you remove the midcats it will drone for sure.

Ive read several times that they are a direct swap with n55 mids. I have an x-pipe in mine and it sounds deeper but not too noticeable until you get 4k + in the rpm's and then it sounds like an exotic. Im with 3" dp's as well as FBO with factory axleback exhuast.

I want that CRACKLE CRACKLE POP POP POP POP when you hold the gas at a steady level... You're either gunna know what im talking about here or not lol.. but ive seen our n54 engine do it.. So from what ive been told from a bunch of people is that a secondary cat delete will do that or cause it to do that.. i already have the ar catless downpipes so yea... I think im gunna get my mechanic to just cut out the 2ndary cats and weld on a stainless steel pipe..

thoughts???

Do the x pipe while you're at it all the way to the mufflers to get rid of all that crushed piping.

Your car already has a stock x-pipe. If you want a louder and a bit more free flowing I would say delete it with the cats and run the pipes straight all the way to the mufflers.

alright after stopping by a few shops, ive been told leaving the stock x pipe and just taking out the resonators would do the trick.. so im gunna get a custom mid pipe taking out the resonators and just have a straight pipe from the stock x pipe to the muffler

opinions..

i'm pretty sure you can only swap 135 n55 midpipes to a n54 135. I also installed an x pipe in my e90 and then did the golf t mod. I will say the golf t made more of a sound difference than my ar dp's and x pipe combined.

Crackle crackle pop sound = running rich. That sound is fuel igniting in the exhaust rather than the cylinder.
