vk-motorwerks oil cooler destroyed. Need new core. HELP ASAP

Hi everyone,

I have installed the vk-motrowerks oil cooler kit almost 2 years ago and I'm very happy with it.

Recently the oil cooler was hit by a small rock and started leaking. It doesn't look very serious but it leaks a few drops every time I use the car. It's a matter of time before the leak goes huge.

I tried contacting vk-motorwerks for a replacement core but their e-mail (admin@vkmotorwerks.com) is dead.

Any ideas? Do you know the dimensions of the core? Could a sertrab core fit? If yes which one?

I need help ASAP as it is very crucial.

The ER oil cooler kit is interesting but:

1) I don't know if it fits with my m-tech pre-LCI bumper

2) it is expensive and I don't want to spend that much money since I already have a OC setup installed

Thank you

Measure the oil cooler, get a corresponding Setrab cooler for like $250EUR and that's it. Alpina_B3_Lux posted a review in which he installed a VK oil cooler with Setrab core, so I suppose the cores are more or less interchangeable.

+1 as this is the cleanest fix.

You can also take it out, search for the leak and weld it.

Yes, exactly. I bought this off another member of this forum, but can confirm that the original VK Motorwerks core is far from ideal. It is actually cut in order to fit into the frame where it's installed, which makes it very prone to leaks. I've seen two of these setups leaking and having to be replaced.

So yes, get the Setrab core indicated in this thread and replace the original one from VK Motorwerks.

Thank you for the fast responses. It looks like that sertab unit 50-625-7612 will fit directly.

2 more questions:

1) where to buy? I'm in Europe but purchasing from USA would not be a problem

2) vk oilcooler has 8N fittings and sertab core has M22x1.5 fittings. What is the dimension of the hose fittings? So, which adapter should I buy? 8N to M22x1.5 male to male?

Since Setrab is an European company (Swedish) you should buy from Europe, it's cheaper.

I ordered a brand new setrab core from racecityraceparts.com

I cannot believe I've spent my money for that piece of crap. I saw it at e-bay too.

It was clear at their website that this is a brand new core.

Seriously, I don't know who is the most idiot, me or them
