Mobridge...I'm thoroughly confused

The logic7 amp in my car died, and its 1500 bucks for a new one to be installed. I've been looking around at stereo components, and it doesn't seem like there's any reason why it should cost so much. I'd like to get my stereo working for around $700-$800, and I saw the MoBridge thing online. I'd like to keep my stock speakers and head unit, basically as OE as possible. I thought the previous system was pretty good so I really don't need to upgrade.

Besides the Mobridge preamp, what all do I need to make my stereo work? Is my budget realistic for this kind of setup?

I've seen these sell used for a few hundred bucks. Installation is plug and play. Ask over in the FS forum if anyone has one for sale.

Right, but I'm leery about buying a used amp from somebody I don't know with no warranty...I've got no idea whether it works or not when its sent to me.

Fixed.

You could do this coding and thus completely remove the Logic7 OEM amp from your system like it was never part of your car: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=651998

100% reversible back to stock.

The MS-8 lacks sufficient power to drive the underseat woofers. Sounds like crap. You need a 2-channel amp on top of that just for the woofers.

The DA2 converter from MOST to analog which we were speaking about is not yet released and should not be ready for release until at least Q3 by my reckoning (I am not an agent for the manufacturer, but I have some sense of how long these things take).

Please start by reading the stickies. General strategy:
1. figure out what system you are starting with
2. determine your budget
3. determine what aspects you are trying to improve
4. then identify your components and how you are going to get them installed/tuned.

I you want to drive all your channels

I you want to drive all your channels
it won't be cheap . Even if you can DIY and are
an expert shopper or dumpster diver.
Because you have to drive 9 channels and if you want
them to sound even better you will need better speakers.
The things that fit in these car is limited and tends to
be exotic relative to mainstream car stereo .
And the way its hooked into the car makes it pain to modify.
If you are not willing to spend well north of 1500 bucks for a self
install you are probably better off buying that used L7 amp
or getting the broken one fixed.

Reprogam to Hi fi and one of these
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ighlight=helix
is one of the current solutions.
The mobridge preamp alone is 600 plus item .
Why is it so expensive it goes in a Euro Car that is
one of the the few types that use and optical amp driver
line.
