MOD found on my CPO
Good evening
I was doing same maintenance on my BMW 335i and look what I found hooked to the TMAP sensor. I took a closer look and it said made in USA and I knew it was a MOD for sure. If im wrong let me know. Anyways looks like Its caledl Split Second Turbo Tune. Per. website it produces up to 40 HP and 50 torque. Does anyone know if these MOD is bad for my car or turbos? Any ideas? So much being a CPO. LOL Looks like its worth 400 to 600 bucks.... Last edited by Norcal_335i; 03-19-2012 at 01:13 AM.. Reason: add infor |

Split second turbo tuner( SSTT)
Basically the same thing as a Jb+ , they increase boost by a set amount, pretty safe, but Id say take it out and get a real tune. |

That was my first tune. Once you pull it out, you'll notice something missing in the torque department. Be careful not to break off the tabs on the tmap sensor.

Having a SSTT as a mod means you didn't have a more aggressive tune, so you should be glad in fact. The SSTT is not worth it more than $100-$150 right now.

In my opinion, you are going at this wrong....CPO car?? Bought at dealership?? I would take it back if you bought it recently and point out to the service tech what you found....and voice concerns on an aftermarket tune....see if you can get a longer warranty....or if you have turbo/waste gate problems later have it noted on your car's maintenance log used by BMWNA. Use it to your advantage!

On the other hand it could be a sales tactic to pick up a bunch of used sstt's and slap them in used bmw's to give them some extra kick. |

If you like it leave it. Back in the day it was a good tune and what I started with in 07. Outdated by todays standards though.

Man i would never ever buy a used 335i... You got to know more often than not they are all at least chipped and driven to rags...
