UK Orders Thread - order through to delivery

Hi to all those from the UK. Just wanted to start a thread to hear about UK order experiences including order date, production start and delivery. If you could list your model and dates for order, production and delivery. Also if you have any UK specific order experiences fell free to discuss!

Ordered 328i luxury on 2 Feb
Have been told it may go into production in late April for a May delivery. Still waiting!

Hi. Ordered mine c.15 December and my dealer had it on 15 Feb. Waiting list has grown some since then I think.

My company car folks handled the actual order so I may be out by a day or two. Worse than that, they'll have it until the lease on my current car expires at the end if next month!

Ordered my 320i on2nd feb. it was due for delivery on 23rd march but arrived 16th march....HOWEVER...my dealer told me the bonnet was marked, probably by the transporter lorry. So it's getting a new bonnet tomorrow. Picking it up on Friday as was previously arranged. What do you think I should ask for as compensation??

Bad news with the bonnet. Def ask for something. Free upholstery protection or after market product?

Hi

I was beginning to think it was just me. I ordered a 335i Modern on feb 15 & this is the schedule.

April order quota –

Production week 22nd May 2012

Expected to dealer week 25th June 2012

Delivery to me 1st July 2012!!!!!

Apparently 335i's in the UK are 'on demand' quota so immediately pushed back to April. I'm really miffed.

Looks like all the 335i's are crossing the Atlantic right now! LOL

320d sport ordered the week after official launch date. Delivery expected week commencing 26th. Here's hoping it's early. The wait is killing me!

Yes...can't understand why US orders can be filled a lot quicker than UK. May be worth contacting BMW direct?

Yes, they are filling the tank for starters, which is an extra not to be sniffed at these days. I suspect there may be a little something else. I pick it up tomorrow!

Hi there
Ordered my BMW F30 320I SPORT on the 16/03/2012
Originally quoted a mid May delivery which I can live with, just been informed
this week that it is going to be the second week of June, which is bordering on looking elsewhere!
Have seriously been considering an A4 2012 211PS SPORTSLINE as an alternative, doesn't drive as well as the Beemer but sure looks a whole lot better & would arrive within the original time frame....only tricky bit is the £1000 deposit paid to the BMW dealer to proceed, may have to write that off!!!

Patience my good man and you will be rewarded! The A4 has it's merits (heck I will miss my A3 when it goes next month) but the F30 is in a different league. People will still talk about the F30 in 15-20 years time (even if they are just BMW nuts) but no one is going to be talking about this particular face-lifted A4. Those are the facts of the case and they are undisputed!

That is not good news. I agree that it makes decision making problematic. I still have no further news and I ordered at start of Feb.

Got my new 318d SE in Mineral Grey yesterday. Absolutely love it and it is far superior to my previous 318d (E90). Will post some pictures over the weekend.
Ordered with leasing company just before Christmas, and at first didn't expect it until May or June, as the 318d wasn't one of the first to be produced, but got a nice surprise when told it was available for delivery this week.
Lucamatblu41: Stick with the order for the BMW, you wont be disappointed.

Thanks guys, have decided to stick with the order. The dealer has suggested that the first projected date could move 2 weeks forward as they prioritise customer orders over group/demo/dealership orders...It may be a line but it's kept me onside for the moment!

Hi all

I posted in another thread but thought I'd ask here too.

I ordered my 320i Sport back in late jan.

Now the dealer is telling me that the car is on the ship and may have docked. But they cannot tell me for definite and also don't know which ship it's on. Basically it seems they have no idea where the car is.

Does this sound normal? I'm getting really frustrated with being told different things and not knowing anything about the estimated delivery day. I was told last week that I would get it yesterday but that didn't happen.

Do you have the VIN number? You can look it up on the Wallenius Wilhelmsen tracking site.

If it's on a ship that "may have docked" then it might well be the good ship Bess which is due to dock at Southampton April 1.

Thanks.

Just tried to get VIN but sales man didn't have it to hand. Seems odd but nevertheless he is going to call me in morning with it.

Now he thinks my car is on that boat. Weird because I was told earlier in the week that the ship had docked and car would be here yesterday. They really don't know anything but I'd rather them say that then bullsh*tting me!

Edit: anyone know how long the shipping companies take to unload the cars from the ship? Gives me an idea of when to expect the car to arrive at the dealer if it is indeed on that ship at all!
