logic 7 remote power wire..?
I searched the forums and only found two references to the remote power wire in the trunk, I cannot find a single wire that has power at ignition off of the amp connector. Someone said use red and yellow or something, but that was not it. Someone else said a small black wire, but the harness does not have any small black wire on it.
Anyone who hooked up an amp that required the remote power and has an e92 with logic 7 please tell me which wire you used, i dont really feel like running one from the dash if i dont have to... I hope someone can help. Someone must have done this with an e92... Last edited by psychoactive; 06-06-2007 at 11:24 AM.. Reason: asdfsadfsdf |

I tap into the power for CD changer option, which I didn't have. If you don't have CD changer option, next to the amp there is a 4 connectors plugs. 1 of the 4 connector can be use as remote turn on. Its power will cut off for around 5 mins after all doors are locked. I set up an amp and sub for 6 months ago, no problems since.

yep, i think it's a CD changer connection, which I didn't have. I tapped into this one, it will cut power after 10mins or so after all doors are locked. Work great after 5+ months.

What color is that wire? I'm running into the same problem...there was no little black wire on the harness that somebody mentioned in a DIY.

I couldn't find any wires anyone else was talking about. I have Logic7 and Idrive... dunno if idrive makes a difference or not.
I finally found a wire (black with a red stripe i think it was) that is 12V+ switched with the key, no delay..etc... It is connected to a box that is on the floor of my trunk, right behind the rear seats on the right side of the car box is rectangular shaped and has something to do with the bmw assist and maybe more If you take the white connector out.. and leave it pointed toward the back of the car, like it was plugged in... that wire is the top row, 4th from the right... the one slight/possible problem with that is that while i have my amp connected that way, the power light seems to fade in/out... which is odd... it shows a constant 12V, but not sure why the power light on the amp fades in/out.... I suppose it's possible the amp is actually losing the signal if it is drawing too much from the remote lead, perhaps draining a capacitor or something ? Then shutting down, then starting up again as soon as that lead can provide power again... (it doesn't do this if I connect straight from the battery to the remote turn on) so.. while i'm not sure if it's totally safe to use this wire, it is a wire with a key switched +12V... (I'm having ohter issues preventing me from actually hooking up speakers and testing it out with this wire so far) |

update.. - bad news... that wire i found causes problems...
with one amp i drew too much current and it caused an error with the passenger restraint system...... the other amp didn't draw enough current there to cause an error, but i got a clicking sound through the speakers.... so... yea.. i'm still looking for a wire too... i fear i'll have to run something from some other part of the car... just not looking forward to that |
