TREO Owners & Bluetooth
Hey. I know there are threads that mention the pairing of TREO's with the Bluetooth system in BMW's but I think it is important for all TREO users to get "the scoop" on how they actually work on 2007's.
Please state your TREO brand.. (650, 700, 700p, etc.) Palm or Windows based (this is important).. Model & Month of Build for your Car.. Let us know if; a. Everything works, or b. What doesn't work (ie. Phonebook, Signal Strength, etc.) Did I forget anything??

Treo 650... kind of works. It will not upload your whole phone book, just the numbers you have on speed dial.. kind of annoying. Also, it drains my battery like a crazy.

Have 2006 325i with navigation and Treo 700p. Only pulls numbers from Favorites list (speed dial). Numbers from Contacts do not transfer. Signal strength is no problem. No battery issues directly related to use with vehicle. Running the phone with bluetooth active does drain the battery more, but this is typical of similar phones. Bluetooth pairing is somewhat glitchy. First time the phone pairs with the car, the phone does not know to transfer the call to the car. So, if you are trying to pair for the first time, it may seem like it is not operating properly. Work around for this is to turn off the car all the way and then turn it back on. The reason I think it works this way is because the car needs to be looking for the phone when the car is started. It will not operate properly if you try to activate bluetooth after the car has already been turned on. This is not the case with many other bluetooth phones. My wife's LG VX8700 works perfectly with the vehicle. So, can be an aggravation at times. Once you get the hang of it, it's not that bad, but certainly much room for improvement.
Vehicle was built January 2006. |

It's been posted before and I'll rehash. Treos don't work very well with idrive. However, they do work really well with idrive if you use a piece of software called jetware mobile.
I have a Mar 06 build 330i and a treo 700wx. Out of the box, all I got was the phone to pair with no signal strength and the only contacts were those saved in my treo "speed dial" buttons. About three months ago I downloaded jetware. Now I have the signal strength bar and my entire phonebook in idrive. I've never had much trouble pairing my phone with the car's BT, but since I got the latest BMW software update it's really easy to reset the BT on the car. |

My Treo 650 paired up no problems. Works OK everytime I get in the car. You have to load the numbers you want to call into the speed dial - but I don't have enough friends to fill that up anyway

650 Sprint, Palm and everything works fine. Phonebook does not transfer(know issue) call waiting must be controlled via the handset, signal strength works with picture of telephone. If I'm on the phone and want to leave the car I have to into the bluetooth menu and disconnect bluetooth otherwise I get this horrible beeping. Joseph

The 700p has inherently flawed bluetooth. A patch was released on monday to fix the issue, but has been withdrawn since it has bricked so many treos.

Here's what I got.
Just got my 07 335i coupe, and have Treo 750. I've had multpile problems, and my car was built at the first of May. It pairs up ok, but after when I get back into my car after some short length of time, the bluetooth recognizes my phone, but I can't place a call out. It states the phone is connecting, and then boots the phone and takes me to settings. I have to reset my Treo for it to work. Also, it will come up for me to accept a call, but will disconnect when I hit accept. It's really pissing me off!! Any suggestions from anyone?
I'm gonna try the jetWare now....

If you have sprint call them up and complain about your 700p. I got a 755p over nighted to me and it fixes all the 700p issues. I got my 755p the day the 700p MR came out and did the MR on the 700p and used it for a while side by side to the 755p and it was still a POS and I quickly put it in the UPS box and sent it back. I was given the option when the BB 8830 comes out to trade up but have to pay the difference. The rep that I spoke with told me he didnt know a date when the 8830 would be out but he assumed it will be out in 3-4 months or less since I guess in 3 months they have a bunch of new phones that come out and they usually release a bunch of phones in a 1 month period together.

I dont have BT in my BMW, but I use it with a headset and a GPS receiver and I dont have any of the pairing issues the 700p had. If someone in Arizona wants to meet up I will provide my 755p to test out. But then again you can go buy one from sprint and return it in 30 days if you dont like it or if it doesnt work.
