Stett Intercooler Install Help Please !!??
I have a stett intercooler that's going into a e93 2008. In terms of instructions, this is what I have to work with :
And so far, I have gotten the bumper off, and the intercooler. I'm about to trim/remove the shroud, but this is where I get stuck ... In this photo, i have pre assembled the tubing to see how things are going to line up.. And when I get under the car, I have two connections: one on the right side : and one on the left: which continues to the charge pipe here: So my question is... am I to hook up the right side to that factory connector, or do i need to trim that like i have seen in other installs? And, on the left side of the car (chargepipe connection), am I to remove the entire factory assembly and run the intercooler piping straight into the charge pipe? I may be making this more difficult that it is, and I'm a technical person, but i certainly don't want to screw it up. One wrong cut, trim, removal, etc. and I'm screwed. Please help. If anyone has a STETT tutorial that would be great. I have loooked all over the place, and see a wide variety of vendor tutorials, but each seem to have their own way of attaching to the vehicle. I'm jumping back into this bright and early tomorrow morning... please help! |

The only thing you should be trimming is bumper shroud. Just remove the stock charge pipes and it should fit right in with the supplied hardware.

Take a dremel and cut through the clamp holding that accordion style tube on the passenger side. And yes, factory piping that connects to Oem charge pipe will also be removed.

An easier intercooler to install would have been something like the ETS or maybe Helix as it doesnt require any shroud cutting. However, all of them require you to remove the stock charge pipe unless its specifies that it uses the factory charge pipe and clamp (like HPF). Although HPF has an option for getting rid of the stock charge pipe too.

^ so far so good... there was a few issues that i think were unique to the e93, so i had to improvise, but so far, it seems to be holding boost just fine, and as dumb as it sounds, the car feels a bit faster and smoother than before... dunno if that's just me feeling it, or it actually having an improvement

You probably have a massive improvment as STETT's intercooler is one of the best on the market. It is a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. From your pictures it looks very solid especially with the undertray and the connection tubes. I dont think any air is giong to leak out of there Nice work and looks amazing!
