08 E90 FBO vs E55 AMG
My friend ran my cousins E55 last nite, they had some good runs, he is a forum member aswell maybe he will chime in aswell
2008 E90 N54 335i JB4 map 7 on ms109 Fully catless CP-E FMIC w/ AA charge pipe BOV 19" rims full weight No oil cooler vs 2004 E55 AMG No resonator/ No secondary cats Meisterschaft mufflers Upgraded IC pump Dyno'd at 411WHP traped at 115-116mph 30-150mph 3 runs. Make a long story short, as the go pro took pics instead of videos The 335i would stay close, neck and neck at speeds below 120, once above 130 the E55 would come and put half a car to a car by 15Xmph Was surprised up top the E55 gained, im guessing the E55's gearing up top looks to be pretty damn good. Time for you to purchase a meth kit, it will make a world of difference up top. I'm not suprised though, the E55 is a beast....and it's reliable.

Modded E55 from a roll = deadly... Even from a dig, they haul ass.
I can tell just by the trap speeds that it's not even pullied, though. Put an oversized pulley on the E55, and you are probably looking at 120+mph traps.

E55's actually have a very good drag coefficient, which helps them maintain their acceleration rate at higher speeds. Gearing is a bit rough having only 5 speeds (which is why the M5's have such a fun time on the highway), but with the right mods, they are nasty at all speeds.
Your cousin should look into making the car stage 2. The current mods aren't really doing much besides sound (perhaps a bit on HP). Pulley, FMIC and Tune will net 80+ rwhp and 100+ rqtq. $2.5-$3K will get the E55's into low 120's / mid 11's 1/4 miles. Good run nevertheless. |

yeah the e55's are nasty cars that car just had basic cooling and some weight reduction the exhaust mods doesn't really do anything besides the weight the big restriction in the exhaust is the headers. the e55's with right around 5k can get you:
Tune Pulley Cooling mods Fuel Rail & Injectors (once they start getting real modded cylinder #8 leans out) bigger throttle body headers all of this would put the e55 at around 550-575 rwhp and 1/4 mile times and et's faster than any 335i |

Yea I made the switch to E55 from 335i. I love this car...raced an fbo 335i running 93/e85 mix this weekened...40-120 pulled atleast 5 cars
Also with my stage 1 E55 (tune, pulley and cooling) it pulls, rediculously strong and I love the gearing. Yesterday after resting my TCU(transmission control unit) I did a 2nd gear pull and the car finally shifted to 3rd at around 93mph. Its weird to because in 2nd around 80mph the car starts to pull noticeably harder...great feeling

when i was first looking around i was almost gonna pull the trigger on a e55 amg over the 335i but choose the 335i for gas milage and everyday DD in the city. E55 amgs are awsome cars modded and are very comfortable but something about filling up the thirsty v8 supercharger every few days turned me off to it, but if i didnt have a budget i would have deff got the e55 but im very happy with my 335i! good runs now just get sum meth and say bye to the e55 as long as he doesnt get a pully or tune lol then just get sum RB turbos lol)

A quote that has always stuck with me...
"A full bolt on W211 E55 AMG is a downright terror of a car."

^ Definitely True!
The torque even stock is downright addicting. On the highway, you actually don't want the car to downshift to feel the torque in the tall gears. It's roller coaster, interior cabin pressure changing acceleration. I've had my ears pop many times in the car. Nasty. Love it! |

I'd love to own one, but the whole "airmatic suspension failure" thing kinda scares me Heard it can get quite pricey to repair that
