Iphone 3GS
I have an old cracked screen Iphone 3gs. I want to repair it. I have wiped the memory by doing a factory re-set and now its asking to plug into itunes. If I do this will it not just re-load all the old stuff back onto it!?

Its wants to plus into iTunes to unlock the device, you will then have the option to restore a backup. I'm assuming you don't want this to happen ?

Plug it into iTunes, click restore .... It will then either download or extract (if you have the software already) and apply it to the iPhone, once it has successfully applied the firmware your iPhone will then restart, once it has done this you get the option to either set it up as a new iPhone (I.E. blank ready to start fresh) or set up from a back up.
You need to select "set up as new iPhone" It will ask you to gie the iPhone a name, and it'll have one name suggested .... If your logged into your iTunes account it'll suggest that name, just put "iPhone 3GS" is similar Easy as .... Hope this helps Tom

Why do you need iTunes?
Settings-general-reset-erase all content and settings I am sure that will leave the phone as thought it has never been used? |

Yep, it does. I'd assumed he'd gone past that stage as it was asking to be plugged in to iTunes? Not sure.
