Meth question
I have.
Car is stock pending its last warranty appointment. Parts on order: 3"Charles's dp's, jb3, jb4 upgrade. Was thinking about ordering the BMS meth kit as well, but I had some questions. 1. When running meth on a DD, how often is the meth used? Wot? 2. How often does it need to be refilled? Is there a meth gauge? 3. How easy/practical is meth for a DD? Thank in advance |

I daily drive with my mods below.
1 - Depends on how "spirited" you drive. I rarely go into boost over 6 psi unless I feel like blowing off steam. 1 Gallon of meth can last me up to 3 months just daily driving using 50/50 mix. 2 - See #1. PWM kit will use slightly less than a PPS. No volume guage, but I did a windshield wiper tank (see my install) with the outlet located just below my wiper tank resivior guage. So when my car tells me I'm low on wiper fluid, I know to stop spraying meth. I beleive the same goes for Shiv's and BMS's kit. 3 - Meth is good for the engine, however it does come with hazards. It can ignite if it comes in contact with anything hot (exhaust mani, turbos, etc), so you should inspect your system often to ensure it's running up to par. It has the potential to clean out the carbon in your intake manifold, however, there are mixed results on this. -cheers

1) you can set a boost controller to be progressive with the pump (not sure what the BMS kit comes with and the default settings). So you can set start psi to say 6 and max flow from the pump at 10 psi. When driving around town I rarely go into boost, so I would have to intentionally get over 6 PSI for it to use any meth.
2) I don't run a gauge because mine isn't a daily driver. I did try to install an in tank level switch, but it leaked, I took it out and put in a new tank. BMS has the WW kit so you could use that and the windshield washer fluid warning light would come on if you are low. 3) I'm not DD, but its pretty practical only if you want more power. Its a great alternative to having to use race gas each time you want to up boost over pump gas alone. See #1, its great that it isn't used until a specified PSI. I think many people have issues with this car (or any) faster when the car is not garaged. Everything wears out faster - sensors, modules, fluid lines, including meth line, and batteries, due to the temp changes that come with storing a car outside. |

Keep in mind, not all meth kits are boost based. Eventhough mine is technically a "PWM" kit, my flow is based off of injector duty cycle vs. boost.

I have a Vishnu PWM kit on my DD, and it is stored outside. Using the WW tank for 50/50 mix.
Technically, 50/50 meth/water is not flammable. I would not increase that concentration until I get a dedicated meth cell in the trunk. I would also not use plastic tubing for higher meth concentrations due to the risk of perforating and fire, but others have been fine. YMMV. I use about a tank (approx 1 gal) every couple of weeks (10-15 days) or longer if I just don't use my right foot. Got pulled over the other night, cop let me off with a warning, so I'll be taking it easy for a while. I haven't had a ticket in forever, and I don't want one. Esp not the kind of speeds this thing is capable of in such a short time. My commute is 11 miles each way, and I drive about 1000mi a month running around town.

You would be surprised that if your driving normal, half the time your not even on boost high enough to activate the meth...Most have their meth kick on at 6-7 psi and normal driving will not even touch that...For a DD its not even an issue, what the issue with meth is the constant maintenance of the system. Getting a system with compression fittings as suppose to push fittings will help in keeping the constant vigilance of meth leaks..

Have had the Vishnu PWM meth kit in for almost 10 months now and not a single issue. No leaks, no check engine lights or codes, no issues with the failsafe and no maintenance what so ever. I just fill her up with 80/20 mix most of the time some times 50/50. Windshield washer tank will last me about 2 weeks of daily driving. With a commute of 52 miles a day. With the right kit and proper installation it makes meth a no brainier.
