Service engine+ shaking? Help!

So I am having an issue with my 330i, the best way to describe it would be that the car shakes violently and service engine comes on when WOT is applied at certain RPMS in certain gears after this happens it feels like the car is not running full power and misfiring pretty badly. The shaking and light do no go away unless I turn the car off and then back on again and everything seems to way it should. Anyone with the same problem out there? did a search and came up pretty empty. help is welcomed and needed

Sounds like you need to clean and swap (places of) the VANOS solenoids. Check the DIY section for the procedure.

same thing happened to me, brought it to a buddy of mine at BMW and he said it was due to my tune (JB) and that if the engine revs too high it will slightly shut down to prevent damage. i had my car in ds, this doesn't really make much sense to me but he couldn't do anything for me. it has not done it again. hope you can do better than i did at figuring it out.
