Swirls and clouds on dark colors

I was just looking over my new jet black 325i and I've noticed the guys at the dealership who are in charge of polishing/waxing really did a nice job--there isn't a single light scratch or swirl mark anywhere from when they took the wax off.

I've been waxing black cars since I was a little kid and I think I've tried just about everything. I've used liquid wax, solid canned wax, foam applicators, cloth applicators, small and slow buffers, high-speed industrial buffers, polish before waxing, miracle cleaners before waxing, ect, and EVERY car turned out the same way eventually. After all these years, it seems like little has changed At the very least, areas of the car get very fine scratches from applying the wax or taking it off, and at the most, they get disgusting swirls marks and clouds in the finish. Where the finish should look like a mirror, over time it looks terrible.

Generally, this is only noticable on dark cars. Is there anything that can be done to prevent this? I can't stand to see this happening to my new E90. Are there any new techniques? I've read a lot about this Zaino stuff, but is there anything else that maybe I don't know about? How do I keep a dark car looking new--not just shiny, because for me, shiny and VERY scratched eventually go hand in hand. Thanks.

Listen and listen good!

Z-A-I-N-O!! You will never have another swirl mark or "cloud"...EVER...www.zainobros.com ....Get a thing of Z-2, Z-5 and Z-6, and your worries will be out the door for good...I have ONLY owned black cars (except at the moment ) And that is all I ever used..

Also, when you apply the Z-5, and 6, you wipe AND buff in straight lines!! No circles!! I could go on and on all day about the stuff, but you have to see for yourself...

bozo, isn't Zaino just a polish? Does it really work that great? I've used polishes before and it always seems like after it rains, the polish washes right off. Does zaino make any kind of wax...I didn't see any. Hey, I'll try it even if it is polish, if its really as good as you say.

Hmm..No I havent tried it with a mask yet...HAHA!! Yeah, maybe I should ask them about that commission, huh? Nah, its just that Ive always owned black cars, and have always had little swirl marks, and have never been able to achieve a perfect shine...Well I did with Zaino,...repeatedly..So, in fact, maybe there are waxes just as good, but why fix what aint broke..And the ease of use is second to none i believe...

Yes, for the most part, it is just a polish..However, the Z-6, has most of the wax qualities, and is almost entirely pure..Which is what separates it from the rest!!..Unlike "natural" polishes, that actually attempt to buff out scratches, and shine is a secondary subsequence, Zaino, concentrates on the shine, which is why its THE thing to use IMHO for new cars..The protective qualities are in the Z-2 for scratches, etc....And with the Z-1 polish lok, the Z-2 polish almost molecularly bonds with it.....

THEN, the Z-5 polish takes further care of the scratches and shines superbly, and then the Z-6, which is the reason for all my screaming..It is extremely concentrated WAX, that only attaches itself to the Z-5!! So you're basically waxing the Z-5 instead of the cars actual paint with gives it the breathtaking shine...Youre car is already protected by the Z-2 and 5..In fact, youll note that ONE OUNCE of Z-6 should cover an average size car, and you should not need anymore!! And they're right...Also, remember swirl marks?!?! Not with this stuff...I just finished Zaino'ing my X5, and it was exhausting, but well worth it...Can you tell Im crazy about this stuff?

And Zaino will tell you to wash your car with a polish depleting substance like Dawn or a clay bar..Do NOT use a clay bar on a new car..And if you use the Dishwashing liquid, use very little for a new car...The other polishes dont tell you to do this becuase there are extra chemicals in them that take care of it..Since Zaino is so pure, it cant take care of water marks and stuff that were already on the car...

Most importantly, try calling the founder and product manager for any other polishing company if you run into a less than stellar shine..The founder gives you a contact number for him, and a team of specialists cause they dont want you telling people you used Zaino with a dull shine on your car..they will see you through the whole process..but dont get the whole package!..Z-1, 2, 5 and 6..thats all youll need...

Oh boy, Im tired now....

Hey bozo, thanks I appreciate all that info! Well, I'm sold. So you really probably should setup some kind of profit-sharing, or commission at least. You can use me as your first referral!

Thanks again!

Zanio is the company and they make polishes and waxes. On new cars and newer cars it makes the cars look really slick/wet. I seen it on some older cars, and need more than the Zanio's polish. But after a more agressive polish then the Zanio system, they look hot.

great! Did you get any of the washing stuff? I have never tried any of that stuff, but I heard it works well..Like i said, as long youve got some Z-1,2,5 and 6, You need nothing else....

An absorber? As in a chamois? Sure..Some people recommend using towels after a Zaino is applied, but it doesnt make a difference except the towels can help decrease any potential swirl marks..big deal...You wont need it after you Z-5 it anyway...Let me know how it goes!!

Remember to pat instead of draging it along the surface. It will create swirl marks if you drag along the surface if you miss like a dirt particle somewhere. I know you going to polish it afterwards with the z stuff but Y make more work for urself.

Good point! Especially if you use a towel to dry. It is indeed a "learning experience"..After the first time, youll learn certain things work for you, that might not work for other people...and easier steps to get a better shine....Like, I buff off the Z1 AND 2 even though the directions might say otherwise..everytime you buff a coat off, it creates a new "canvas" ending in a better shine overall..Each coat is attaching itself to the previous coat instead of the actual finish on the car...

Good Call Bozo

I used every Zaino product known to man on my 2000 Camaro SS. Never had any swirls and paint never faded either. The car was located in the Middle-East for 4 years, if that desert and heat doesn't do a number on your paint job, I don't know what will.

Ordering some for my Monaco Blue 330i as well.

Here is a pic, sorry kind of grainy!
