Also need help in Amps
Running:
Focal KRS 100 SWS-8 underseats Bit One.1 Currently - JL JX 360/4 Future plan: Install 2x10" subs in the boot so would either need a mono amp or another multi chan amp. Shop sold me on the JL JX 360 saying it was perfect for my current set up, but having liaised with many member on here, it feels that this was not such a wise idea - the current specs .. http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/pro..._id/14405.html ..show that its giving 75w RMS p/chn at 4 ohm whereas the two I have heard about are... 1. Vibe Slick A3 - 100w RMS p/chn at 4 ohm and (I know discountinued) 2. Vibe A4 - 150 RMS p/chn at 4ohm As mentioned, I'm planning to run 2 subs later in the future and was thinking of getting 2x Vibe A3 (£100 each) or the Vibe a4 (£130 each) - 1st option works out just about less than 1x JL JX 360 price wise.. but am I making a wrong move by looking to go from JL Audio to Vibe? Why do I think opting for a £100 amp that gives more power could be better than a £220 amp?? Is it better to stick with JL JX 360 (retails here in the UK at £220) and get a mono amp for the sub when ready to install (any semi-decent mono amps are £150 upwards I imagine?! .. I could be wrong.) or buy 2 identical, multichannel amps in view of keeping everything uniform and also have the extra channels in case .. Can only really buy the amps from www.caraudiosecurity.com but they seem to have some good prices. Any ideas folks? I asked the shop to compare Vibe A3/A4 to JL JX 360/4 and his response, some what biased, was, 'Sir, you're asking me to compare your BMW to a Vauxall Astra - it's just not comparable' *no offence to anyone* - just reiterating.. Please help. |

Yeah I'm thinking after reading, I'll stick with the JL JX 360/4 as budget is a somewhat issue and get the JL 500.1 from the US.. got some family going there soon :-) If i had the choice, I'd also get the JL XD 400/4 from the US but I have to stick with either this JX one or swapping it for something else with the same car audio shop I bought from.. can't get a refund!
Being from the US, do you by any chance know what's the best price and where to buy the JL XD500/1 amp from? Is it Crutchfield? |

If budget is important just get it from the cheapest possible place (ebay, Amazon, etc.) but if you want only the best in the smallest package, throw away that base model JL and go for the "big daddy" JL HD900/5. I got mine used on Craigslist for $450 !!!
Oh, and if you can, consider a corner-loaded sub ebclosure with just a single 10 or 12. Once you hear one compared to to a traditional dual 10 or 12 set-up, you will be sold and you will have your trunk space back!

That is defo a big daddy amp.. only problem is the amp I have now, is not returnable to the shop as it's out the box and installed, they may do an exchange but not a refund. The other option is for me to fleabay it and get myself another amp, a big daddy one lol. I've seen the JL 1000.1 mono block for £350 elsewhere so that's an option.... when I do get to the boot install stage..
