Wheel and tire question 'HELP'
Hey everyone.. This is my first, post and came here in the hopes I could get good answers..
I'm new to the BMW, and have started to MOD a bit on my 08 328xi.. Will post some pics later for sure. The big question I have is on tire and rim combos.. I just put on a set of 19" Avant Garde M310, with Nitto ENVOs, tires size. front is 235-35-19 rear is 265-30-19 I was told that this is a very good and safe set up for the car before I purchased.. However, after the instal of the lowering springs and wheel I started to hear a noise just like I have a bad tire or one out of balance on the front. Alignment was done the day after lowered with H&R sport springs I was told today at a local performance shop that because of the different rotation of the wheels front to rear I could be causing damage to the all wheel drive system.. has anyone heard that, and is it true.. Is there anyone out there running my combo, and if so how has your experience been?? Thanks John |

I don't think that's enough to make a difference. The factory ships the xi's with staggered set-ups. My 11 came with 255/35/18 (rear) and 225/40/18 (front). I think if running staggered set-ups would cause damage they would build them with square sets.
The last set I bought for my 08 xi was from the dealer. They sold me 255/30/19 (rear) and 225/35/19 (front). i asked the same question and they told me it was fine. I ran those for quite a while with no problems. I don' think the sound your hearing is related to the staggered wheels.

Thanks for your input.. I was thinking the same thing and I just think I have a bad tire. It sounds like a tire that goes bad because of a toe problem, but like I said it did it just as soon as I put the new ones on.
Thanks again |

what pressure are you running? when doing the alignment you should ask them to go around and change the pressure of your tires.. that moves the numbers on your (camber) or is it toe? the one we cant change... when you see the good numbers that is your new pressure for those tires
