Turbos and Wastegate Rattles. Try to get a CPO and one with a clean dealer record, doesn't make it a for sure thing but imo you'll have less to worry about.

I'd say probably that an M3 will walk it.

Huh?

The E9x (and even more so the N54) can have quite a few problems. It's sometimes exaggerated by some on here (of course by the ones that have the problems).

I have owned a lot of cars and have never had one with as many problems this one is prone too.

If you don't want to worry about having to spend the $$ on getting it fixed, it's not worth the risk. ESPECIALLY if you plan on mods.

If you can get one with a lot of warranty left, then no big deal.

But then again, maybe you will be lucky like some on here and not have any problems.

I wouldn't call it cheap but some things start to peel off.

i wouldn't expect you to be making monthly repairs, with that said set aside $2000 a year for maintenance and repairs and you'll be more than set. depending on how much you drive, $1000 is probably more realistic

Oh, and i'd like to say i've only had the hpfp go out (with the previous owner with the older pump type) and that my interior has no rattling nor peeling.
As for other's "peeling interiors" I think they're referring to the steering wheel trim which costs a nice hundred or so dollars for a carbon fiber replacement:

A New Turbo cost $3000 each x 2 = $6000

The main issues with a 335i are not the turbos though, its rather rare for a turbo have issues.

You need to be prepared for the cost of service at the designated intervals, having a Indy shop that works on BMW's will save you a lot of money, about 50% off the dealer prices.

Besides the main issue of the HPFP which is covered for 10Y/120K, there are other items to consider-

Spark plugs at 35K $200
Pads/Rotors every 25K $800
Oil/Filter every 5K-8K $120
All fluids every 60K, Coolants flush, Brake Flush, Transmission Oil, Differential Oil- $400
4 Wheel alignment $100

Other issues with a 335 after 50K

Injectors
Solenoids
Steering Sensors
Light Bulbs
Clutch after 80K if driven hard/improperly

I purchased a 1 owner 52K miles 335i 6MT, I put on 13K miles, and only issues was a warranty HPFP ( had 3 prior in service records).

I had the 60K service all fluids done for $400

Got rid of the RFT's and out on Hankooks $750
New Brake Pads $200

2 Software updates N/C

Low Boost Turbos issue after track day $300 Diagnosis.

** Make sure you get all the service records for the car before considering buying it, a dealer can get these for you with VIN. You need to see if the service/warranty work was basic small things, or major ongoing problems.

Mine had 3 lightbulbs, 3 HPFP and 1 set of plugs, 1 set of brakes in 50K.

I am confortable with those routine services as I owning a performance car at this moment. what i really worry about is a main parts such as turbo costs me a large $$ suddenly.

Some of those costs look a little extreme. You could get aftermarket bigger/better turbos for cheaper than that...

Turbos

I am sorry, I was always told new turbos for the 335i are $6K, I guess thats for OEM BMW-

So you can get a Indy to replace the turbos aftermarket for $600 unit plus labor? I heard you get rebuilt OEM's for about $2K, but never heard of ones for $600....
