Is there any point for me to get a 335?
I really like the 335. My cousin had an 07 335 coupe and it was very fun to drive and had great power. However it was at the dealer for repairs more times than I can count. Seemed like something broke every 2 months.
I would like to get a used 335 but I don't think I will risk getting one that is not CPO. However, I also know that I will NOT want to keep it stock if I buy one. I will most likely want to get a JuiceBox and will also want to get the usual exhaust/downpipe/hfc etc. If the car is going to be breaking down every few months like my cousin's did, I am going to get tired of having to convert it back to stock every single time before I go to the dealer. Is this probably what will happen? Should I avoid the 335 all together if this is the case? |

My car has not broken down in the almost three years I have driven it. I wouldn't avoid getting one if you have the means. It's a car you won't get bored of for a very long time especially with the mods you are planning on installing. Good luck.

well these are very different answers. Sounds like you just have to get lucky with what car you get? And I am not looking for a 328. It's either a 335 or a different car completely |

well that is part of why I made the thread. I want to see if the scenario I mentioned with my cousin is the norm, or if his specific 335 was even more unreliable than an "average" 335

man, I was really hoping I would be getting replies saying 335 reliability is not that bad and for they most part they run just fine. This is a disappointment so far. I was really looking forward to getting one....

My car has never left me stranded but it has had it share of issues. The usual stuff, Vanos replacement, constant chirping brakes, waste gate rattle. OP if you don't want to deal with multiple issue and visits to the dealer, my experience says don't get a 335. |

all werent reliable in one way or another because of their mods. its just a fact, so if you are going to mod it, i dare you to show me any forum that would tell you that X car would be reliable fully modded unquestionably. its just a fact of modding. 335i is a reliable car, without question, but i cant say anything for the future mods you are going to do on a car that you do not yet own, get it?

If reliability is a HUGE point for you, which it should be with every buyer, but some more than others don't get a 335. If you don't want a 328 go another direction altogether. The used car market for the 335 is insanely unpredictable.

That's exactly how I felt. They're all beautiful Bimmers, but power is important to me. To be honest, the 335 could use a little more - but, I want to keep mine 'warrantable' for now.

Reliable
Ever consider getting a 335d? Mine has been extremely reliable and I am sure my fellow diesel owners will agree. It has to be the Ultimate daily driver!

1. Vanos Solenoids 2. HPFP 3. LPFP 4. Injectors 5. Squealing Rear Brakes 6. B pillar rattles 7. Brake light warning light 8. Random light out warning light 9 Wastegate Rattle 10 Turbo siren noise These are just some of the common issue that plaque the 335. And as you mentioned Modding will only make problems worse. |

Knock on wood the only issue I had on mine was self induced, water got in my intake and caused some fun.
Right now my mods are as listed: Procede Rev2 V5 Forge FMIC Forge DVs Stett CAI Magnaflow Catback This is a great platform for tuners. If you get one do some research on the car and any mods you put on it. It really does seem to be a case by case car. I hope you find what you are looking for and I believe you will have a lot of fun with it. |

I highly recommend the 335. But stay away from 2007s - a BMW driving instructor even told me that.
I have had my 335i for nearly 3 years, 2 of them with Dinan Stage 2 ECU upgrade. Dinan costs more than some of the other tunes and had less power (only 386hp and 425 lb-ft of torque), but you can get it done at hundreds of BMW dealers, comes with a warranty equal to what BMW would offer. It seems a bit more thoroughly engineered - it tapers off boost near readline so as to not exceed the specs on the turbos, it also changes water pump function, etc. It is seamless until you put your right foot down. None of the EU cars are great for reliability - any BMW, Audi, MB, VW. If you really value reliability more than amazing driving experience, go for an Acura or Lexus. Seriously, arrange to test drive a 335 and one of the Japanese back to back. If you don`t feel the difference, but the Japanese car. I drove a G37 and 335 back to back and was 100% sure I was going to get the 335. |
